There are some days when I prefer to have a simple breakfast, something like toast with peanut jam and black coffee. Hubby prefers toast with coconut jam (kaya). Not convenient to go to the market to buy coconut milk (santan) because of the lockdown, so for the time being no home made coconut jam.
The small bottle of peanut jam that I bought is almost finished. I remember I had some peanut chunks in the fridge. I had better use it to make peanut jam while it is still fresh.
The peanut chunk is enough to make the above 2 containers. One for my neighbour and one for me. This time I reduced the amount of olive oil and honey, so it is a bit thick.
This green and yellow Coleus is doing well and seems to be very happy with the weather.

Lunch
Hubby was feeling hungry but lazy to go out to buy food. He ended up cooking a packet of Maggi Mee and added in 1 egg.
My neighbour came back from her weekly grocery shopping and blessed us with a comb of banana. Sometimes, these bananas have seeds.

Dinner
My neighbour ordered stewed fish head for us.
Hubby doesn't know how to enjoy fish head, plus he is not a big fan of fish so I ended up having the whole fish head to myself.
I cooked dried noodle to go with the fish head.
Then I tossed the noodle with the gravy from the stewed fish.
Fish head stewed with chopped ginger, fermented beans (taucu) and chilies. Fortunately, it was not a big fish head, so I had no problem finishing the whole thing. So what did hubby had for dinner?
It was a Friday and he happily went to buy the above. The peanut sauce was packed separately. It consists of fish balls, fried dumplings, fried prawn fritters, pig skin, blanched water spinach, fish cake and tofu.
This was after the sauce has been poured over the ingredients. I don't know what it is called, but hubby and I referred to it as Pasar Malam Rojak, something similar to the Mamak Rojak.

Bread with any jam or butter is my perfect breakfast. You have very nice neighbours. Is the neighbour who gave you bananas and neighbour who ordered fish head for you the same person?

DeleteIf I eat that fish head and clean it properly, I would take up to 2 hours cos I eat very slowly. How long did you take to clean that fish head to bones only?

ReplyDeleteI seldom go to the pasar malam. Hubby found this stall by chance, he was curious, so he bought some to try and he likes it. I don't know if this is the same seller selling at other pasar malam.

ReplyDeleteIt is interesting that some of the bananas you get still have seeds, ours do not.
Premade peanut butter is nice but I prefer less sweet so I made my own peanut butter. If I am lazy, it is a good excuse to buy premade ones.

When we had lock down last year here we could and still can order our groceries, meat, fish, veggies, frozen food all things to be delivered to our door. We have an app to order or can do it on the computer.

Sorry I have not been keeping up with blogging or following, just too busy in the garden during the day and in the kitchen when I move inside. DeleteI tried making peanut jam before but it didn't taste good. I was also a bit creeped out with the oil in it. Yours look lovely though.
