Coffee + Snacks At People's Park Chang Jiang White Coffee, Ipoh

After visiting the Tasek Cermin or Mirror Lake (here), we wanted some refreshment. A few places were mentioned and one of them is People's Park Chang Jiang, which our friends haven't been to. So, we drove to Ipoh old town.

The ladies ordered honey lemon.

A Visit To Gunung Lang Recreational Park, Ipoh

Hubby's friend and his family were in Ipoh for a few days to visit his brother. Hubby made appointment to meet up with his friend and family members at the Gunung Lang Recreational Park, Ipoh. I tagged along because I have not been over to the other side of the lake on my first visit.

Gunung Lang Recreational Park, Ipoh was opened to the public in the year 2000.

When it first opened there was a cascading waterfall coming down from the top of the limestone hill.

On my first visit a few years ago, we didn't take the boat over to the other side of the lake.

Operating hours.

The short boat ride to and fro: 

RM3.00 for adults & RM1.50 for senior citizens.

While waiting for the boat ride, I saw this funny looking palm tree. It is a double-headed or double trunk palm tree.

This boat will take us over to the other side of the lake.

Someone wanted to take a closer look or maybe take some snapshots but was called back by one of the staff.

Time to get on the boat.

This lake was an old mining pond.

The lake is surrounded by limestone hills.

Up ahead is the jetty.

It was a hot sunny day.

Nice reflection in the water.

There were more than 10 people in this boat ride.

Nearing the jetty, ready to disembark.

I was ready to explore and discover what is on this side.

I think this is the model of a "Rumah Perak" or "Perak House".

No occupant but we saw a few monkeys loitering around.

Nice to walk under these shady trees that blocked out the sun.

A young man ran up the watch tower and ran down again.

We saw 2 pairs of feathered critters and some animals in cages that I will be sharing in my next posts. The place is a lovely place but needs better care or maintenance. Once we were back on the other side, we went to Bercham for lunch.

Amaryllis Red Lily & Antique Spiral Staircase

Today, I am want to post about my Amaryllis red lily. I have almost given up hope on my Amaryllis lily plants because they were not doing well and haven't bloomed for a long, long time. I didn't have the heart to discard them, so I just left them be in the plastic planter with the other plants just outside my front gate. I will feed them with fertilizer and water them together with my other plants. Then just out of the blue, I noticed a flower stalk coming out from the soil and later the buds appeared and then the flowers. Finally, after being dormant for so long, it decided to bloom.

These spiral staircases can still be found in Ipoh old town especially the buildings along the Concubine Lane.

Early Dinner At Restoran Wong Sheng, Desa Rishah, Ipoh

This dinner was at Restoran Wong Sheng. We actually wanted to dine at this restaurant the Friday before this but we were disappointed to find it closed. Anyway, we returned the following Friday to find it opened for business. We ordered the following dishes for 6 people.

Steamed pork belly with taro.

Sauteed Milk Cabbage (Nai Pak Choy).

Stewed pork rib with bean curd sheet.

Steamed Tilapia with Nyonya sauce.

Salted egg yolk assorted veggie.

Dinner for 6 people costs RM125.

Heineken Dealcoholised Beer - Pure Malt.

Hubby received 4 cans of the above from a friend.

This is the first time we tasted this drink.

Every time I walked past these plants, I get to enjoy its fragrance.

According to the locals, Concubine Lane was built by mining tycoon Yao Tet Shin for his 3 wives. Each lane was fittingly name Wife Lane, Concubine Lane and First Concubine Lane. While another version of the local tale is that it was also the place where rich men hid their mistresses. Today, Concubine Lane is the most famous lane, having been transformed into a popular hangout with a variety of pop-up stalls selling delicious ice balls, flower shaped cotton candy and more.
