Flowers From My Garden

Instead of sharing a food post, I will share some of the flowers from my garden.

Cockscomb flower.
Once you have grown this in your garden, they will self propagate from the seeds fallen on the ground. They will just sprout out of the ground every now and then.
A Gardenia bloom.
Pink Mexican Pertunia (Ruellia Simplex).
Yellow Alder or Buttercup.
Deep Pink Balsam.
White bougainvillea.
Pink Cleome or Spider flower.
This Taiping clock tower is located at 55, Jalan Kota, Taiping.
The original timber building was built in 1881 and was rebuilt with bricks in 1891. It was once used the Town Police Station and also served as a Fire Station. During the Japanese occupation, it was used as a torture center. Today it operates as a tourist information center.

Unless the Lord builds a house, the builders' work is useless.
Unless the Lord protects a city, sentries do no good.

Cleome Spider Flowers & Dinner At "Sam Can Cook", Ipoh

The self-propagated Cleome Spider plant continues to flower in my garden. It grew from a seed that must have fallen into the ground in between the flower pots.

The flowers are pink and purplish in colour.
Just before the spike in the number of Covid infected cases, we had dinner with friends at "Sam Can Cook" at Kopitiam 1 Curve (corner shop), 139a, Lengkok Desa Rishah, Taman Rishah, Ipoh.
Steamed Tilapia with spicy sauce and topped with crispy fried lard.
Green Amaranth with 3 types of egg thick gravy.
Chicken with blended ginger in clay pot.
Meanwhile, we will wait till the situation in Ipoh to improves before we meet up for dinner again.

Put these abilities to work; throw yourself into your tasks
so that everyone may notice your improvement and progress.
Keep a close watch on all you do and think.
Stay true to what is right and
God will bless you and use you to help others.

Amaryllis Red Lily & Antique Spiral Staircase

Today, I am want to post about my Amaryllis red lily. I have almost given up hope on my Amaryllis lily plants because they were not doing well and haven't bloomed for a long, long time. I didn't have the heart to discard them, so I just left them be in the plastic planter with the other plants just outside my front gate. I will feed them with fertilizer and water them together with my other plants. Then just out of the blue, I noticed a flower stalk coming out from the soil and later the buds appeared and then the flowers. Finally, after being dormant for so long, it decided to bloom.

These spiral staircases can still be found in Ipoh old town especially the buildings along the Concubine Lane.

So Jacob left Beer-sheba and journeyed toward Haran.
That night, when he stopped to camp at sundown,
he found a rock for a headrest and lay down to sleep,
and dreamed that a staircase reached from earth to heaven,
and he saw the angels of God going up and down upon it.
At the top of the stairs stood the Lord. "I am Jehovah," he said,
"the God of Abraham, and of your father, Isaac.
The ground you are lying on is yours!
I will give it to you and to your descendants.
(Genesis 28:10-13, The Living Bible-TLB)

Meatballs & Brazilian Spinach For Dinner

These days we usually start our morning walk at about 6:15am or later if we overslept. Sometimes we get to see the moon, sometimes there was no moon to be seen. We are thankful for the street lights that lighted up the streets for us.

Lovely sunrise at 7:20am.
Morning sky (reflection of the sunrise) at 7:27am.
~~~~~
The following photos were from my garden, taken when I was watering my plants.
Eggplant flower.
(I can't remember the colour or type of eggplant).
Fully opened eggplant flower.
Hoping these flowers will turn into eggplants.
~~~~~
Home cooked dinner.
There was a packet of ready cooked frozen meatballs in the freezer which hubby bought in support of his friend's business.
These were big meatballs! There were 5 meatballs in the packet.
Blanched home grown Brazilian spinach and topped with leftover salted egg yolk from the previous day's dinner. We finished the mantis prawns but couldn't finished the leftover salted egg yolk, etc. because it was a bit salty for me.

"Salt is good for seasoning.
But if it loses its flavor, how do you make it salty again?
Flavorless salt is good neither for the soil nor for the manure pile.
It is thrown away.
Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand!"

Linking to Garden Affair.

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight.
As it is written: "He catches the wise in their craftiness;
and again, "The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.

So Many Things To Be Thankful For

Sometimes, we are too busy going about our daily business that we forget to be thankful for the things and the people in our lives. When we begin to be thankful, we cease to complain. I am thankful for good health that hubby and I can enjoy our morning walk. Thankful for sight to be able to enjoy the lovely sunrise and to be able to hear the happy chirping of the birds. A thankful person is a happy person.
Sunrise at 6:55 am.
Sunrise at 7:00 am.
Happy to see this hibiscus plant in my garden budding again.
Thankful for the sun that makes my plants happy.
The chives in my garden are also budding.
~~~~~
Thankful for the beautiful plants in my garden.
This deep red caladium is doing well in my garden.
When exposed to more sunlight, the colour of the leaves get a tinge of green. especially on the underside of the leaves.
When there is less sunlight, the dark red colour of the leaves will deepen.
~~~~~
Thankful for the fragrant flowers in my garden.
My variegated Gardenia plant is budding.
Can you see the variegated bud?
The bright pure white of the petals of a new Gardenia flower.
It will turn beige on the 2nd or 3rd day.
A wilted Gardenia flower before it drops off.
Thankful for nature's lesson that I have learned since I started my garden.
~~~~~
Thankful for the paintings in the evening sky.
Clouds formation in the sky at 5:49 pm.
5:52 pm.
Beautiful display of light and clouds in the sky above the rolling hills.
The heavens are telling the glory of God;
they are a marvelous display of his craftsmanship.
Day and night they keep on telling about God.
