Dine Out With Friends At Restoran Wong Sheng, Ipoh

Since we had food in the fridge, we returned home for breakfast after our morning walk.

Sunrise at 7am.

I put water to boil to make hot drink and re-steamed the buns given by our neighbour.

We also had vegetarian roll which I bought from a roadside stall.

It was our dine-out night with friends. If we don't have any new suggestion, then we go back to one our favourite eateries. So back to Restoran Wong Sheng in Desa Rishah, Ipoh.

Fried Tilapia fish with special savoury sauce.

This is one of their signature dish.

Steamed taro with pork belly.

This is also their signature dish, a hot selling item.

Assorted vegetable with salted egg yolk.

The crispy lotus root slices is our favourite item.

Food is good and price reasonable.

I think for our next visit, we must make a point to order other new dishes to try instead of these same dishes.

Early Dinner At Restoran Wong Sheng, Desa Rishah, Ipoh

This dinner was at Restoran Wong Sheng. We actually wanted to dine at this restaurant the Friday before this but we were disappointed to find it closed. Anyway, we returned the following Friday to find it opened for business. We ordered the following dishes for 6 people.

Steamed pork belly with taro.

Sauteed Milk Cabbage (Nai Pak Choy).

Stewed pork rib with bean curd sheet.

Steamed Tilapia with Nyonya sauce.

Salted egg yolk assorted veggie.

Dinner for 6 people costs RM125.

Heineken Dealcoholised Beer - Pure Malt.

Hubby received 4 cans of the above from a friend.

This is the first time we tasted this drink.

According to the locals, Concubine Lane was built by mining tycoon Yao Tet Shin for his 3 wives. Each lane was fittingly name Wife Lane, Concubine Lane and First Concubine Lane. While another version of the local tale is that it was also the place where rich men hid their mistresses. Today, Concubine Lane is the most famous lane, having been transformed into a popular hangout with a variety of pop-up stalls selling delicious ice balls, flower shaped cotton candy and more.

Breakfast And Dinner On A Rainy Day

Lately, we have been getting a lot of rain with some places hit by flash flood. Some places were badly flooded and the residents have to be moved to higher ground. On this particular morning, it was raining when we woke up. By the time the rain stopped, we were hungry and ready for breakfast. We went to Restoran Meng Meng Kee in Menglembu.

Since it was a cool morning, I wanted something hot and spicy such as curry noodle or prawn noodle. I finally decided on prawn noodle. The sambal condiment is nice.

Hubby ordered the Hor Hee noodle.

This place is well known for its toast with butter & kaya.

We ordered 1 set to share.

That evening I didn't cook dinner.

We had dinner at Restoran Wong Sheng.

As usual, we ordered this appetizing fish dish.

Actually, it is our "must order dish" whenever we eat there.

Another one of our favourite dish.

Crispy fried lotus root slices, French beans, carrot, peanuts with salted egg.

Update From My Garden & Dinner With Friends.

These days nothing much is happening in my garden except for some existing edibles that are still growing and bearing fruit. I water the plants every morning except when it rained, and harvest whatever can be harvested. Few days ago, I managed to clear the garden of weeds and now it is much tidier.

Free lunch from a friend.

When we were having a light breakfast at our regular coffee shop, our friend gave us 2 steamed glutinous rice with chicken and mushroom (loh mai kai).

We brought home the loh mai kai.

We steamed and ate the loh mai kai for lunch.

Dinner with friends at a restaurant.

4 of us sat at a big table with adequate physical distancing.

French beans, crispy fried lotus root, carrot, peanuts coated with salted egg yolk.

Steamed taro with pork belly (woo tau kow yoke).

Deep fried Tilapia with sweet sour assam sauce - very appetizing.

Total cost of dinner for 4 people = RM71.60

Dinner At Restoran Wong Sheng, Ipoh

We appreciate the times that we get to spend with friends and we usually do so over meals. On this particular day, we had Prawn Noodle for breakfast. This coffee shop is usually very packed with customers. After a few minutes of waiting, we finally got a table good enough for the 6 of us.

I wanted to try something new but always ended up ordering prawn noodle.

 Kopi C kosing for me and Kopi O kosong for hubby.

(Kopi C kosong = coffee with evaporated milk without sugar)

After breakfast we parted and went separate ways. In the evening, we met up again for dinner at Restoran Wong Sheng.

 Deep fried Tilapia with their signature Nyonya sauce.

3 dishes for 6 people? No, one more dish on the way.

Assorted vegetables with salted egg yolk. The best is the deep fried crispy lotus root slices. The night was still early and we were thinking of having dessert later.

Are there still some among you who hold that

"only believing" is enough? Believing in one God?

Restoran Wong Sheng, Ipoh - Appetizing Dinner.

It was a Friday evening in mid August. I normally do not cook dinner on Fridays because we usually eat out with friends.

After a long break, we went back to Restoran Wong Sheng in Desa Rishah, Ipoh.

This assorted vegetables coated with salted egg is our favourite dish.

And our favourite is the crispy lotus root slices.

Tofu with Chinese long cabbage, button mushrooms, cloud ears, and etc.

Deep fried black pomfret fish with appetizing sweet sour assam sauce.

The following photos are of the same plant. I thought this plant was gone for good. It was a pleasant surprise to find the plant growing back again out of the blue after staying dormant for so long.

I love the colour and the shine on the leaves.

Can someone help to identify this plant?
When placed in the shade away from direct sunlight, the colour of the leaves turned darker.
