Cold Desserts & Rojak At Hawaii, Teluk Intan

Do we drive straight back to Ipoh after our seafood lunch at Bagan Sungai Burung? Since it was still early, we decided to return to Teluk Intan to buy the popular chee cheong fun which is steamed rice flour noodle with yam bean.

A friend requested a stop to snap some photos of the old court house. This is found at the side of the gate and not the actual building.

This is the actual building. It was built in 1880 and used as a court until 1983. Though no longer serves as a court house, it is still in used and is listed under the list of heritage buildings.

Next, we stopped here to buy a few packets of "chee cheong fun" home. We were hoping to enjoy some "do re mi" aka "ice kacang" but the place was closed.

So we came to "Hawaii" instead.

On our last visit, they occupied only 1 shop lot. Now, they occupy 2 shot lots.

We were seated in the 2nd shop lot and this was on the wall next to our table.

To quench our thirst, the ladies ordered the above cold drinks.

The men ordered cendol ice with jelly.

A plate of fruit rojak for sharing.

We had these at about 4pm.

From a stall selling "lo han kuo" or the monk fruit drink, the business has progressed to the present day "Hawaii".

ABC Ice Dessert, Roast Duck & Peanuts With Minced Meat Porridge

This year mid-autumn festival was on 21st September. For the past years my opposite neighbour celebrated this special day with a big gathering of family members, relatives and friends. Due to the pandemic, there was no celebration and everything was very quiet.

Feeling thirsty, we bought cold dessert for lunch.

Cream corn, evaporated milk and sugar syrup with ice shaving for hubby.

ABC ice or mixed ice (ice kacang) with palm sugar for me.

Our simple dinner.

Peanut + minced meat porridge.

Stir fried kangkong (green veg) with shrimp paste (no photo).

We were blessed with the above roast duck by our neighbour just as we started on our dinner so thanks to our neighbour, it was not a simple dinner after all.

Assam Laksa, Cendol, Rojak & Pork Rib Herbal Soup

After our morning walk, we usually stop at one of our regular coffee shops for breakfast. On our walk home, there are a few routes that we will take but there is one route which we will get to see chickens by the roadside or the back lane of their owner's house.

From its size, it looks like this is the most senior of all the roosters. It is very protective of the flock and it makes sure we keep our distance. Sometimes, it will be chasing after the hens.

There are more hens than rooster in this flock.

This hen after being chased by the rooster, flew into this bush and hid herself there.

She tried to hide behind the leaves when I tried to take snapshots of her.

For lunch, we went over to our friend's house, and from there we drove to Bercham, looking for a small stall that light lunch. This eatery is located in the row of stalls in front of the Bercham Public Bank. It has chap fan, assam laksa, Chinese rojak, ice kacang, cendol, etc.

I ordered a bowl of assam laksa.

Hubby ordered a plate of chap fan (no photo) and a bowl of corn cream on shaved ice dessert.

Someone walked a short distance away to buy fried chicken, cut into bite pieces.

And a packet of economy fried mixed noodle.

Hubby had his chap fan for lunch, so he requested for a light dinner.

I boiled herbal soup with a packet of Chinese dried herbs and pork ribs. We both had a bowl of soup each at about 7pm and it lasted till next day's breakfast.

Lunch At Kafe Diamond, Menglembu

We have about 4 days of 2020 before we welcome in the New Year 2021. We are all hoping for a better year in 2021 but we are also reading about the new virus strain that is claimed to be more deadly. Many are placing their hope in the vaccines, yet many are also doubtful about the effectiveness of the vaccines because the virus is constantly mutating. We don't know when or whether our lives will return to normal. Whatever the New Year 2021 brings, we will still have to adhere to the SOP to protect ourselves and others from the virus. 

One afternoon, we went to Menglembu wet market to buy roast pork. From this photo, we can see that everyone queuing up was wearing a mask. These days, if we are in public places without a mask, we feel "naked" and quickly have to find a mask to cover up. Not only that, if we are caught without a mask, we will be poorer by RM1k! 

The roast pork was almost sold out and hubby bought the above for RM10.

I ordered some fried bean curd items without noodle.

Hubby and I shared this bowl of Mango jelly dessert.

After lunch, we drove to Aeon Big Falim.

I had to stop to snap a photo of this colourful clown at the Grolier stall.

And next to the clown was this robot.

See the young lad watching the robot?

Lol! He was trying to get the attention of the robot!

I think he was trying to show the robot some nice moves.

The end of everything has come.

Therefore, be self-controlled and clearheaded so you can pray.

Above all, show sincere love to each other,

because love brings about the forgiveness of many sins.

Indian style fried rice vermicelli, sweet snacks & steamed fish

After we have had our walk, we stopped to take away 2 packets of fried vermicelli Indian style from the roadside stall.

As usual, we requested for extra sambal. We went to our regular coffee shop, ordered our coffee and ate our breakfast there.

We walked home after breakfast. I stopped to take a snapshot of this Ochna serrulata berries.

Back in my garden, I harvest 2 ripe figs.

These figs taste sweeter since they had the chance to ripen well on the plant before they were harvested.

Chilled herbal jelly (Gui Ling Guo) - the last one left in the fridge.

Chilled Sago dessert with palm sugar and evaporated milk.

I used milk because I do not have fresh coconut milk.

Simple Home Cooked Dinner

I had another 3 fishes in the fridge. Since they were very fresh, I decided to steam them tom yam style. I used the same ingredients and they were all placed on top of the fishes.

I also steamed 2 Chinese sausages and the darker one was the liver sausage.

This was our simple home cooked dinner with rice porridge.

Chilled home made sago dessert after dinner.

It was a mild sweet dessert which I have not ate for a long time.

Be full of love for others,

following the example of Christ who loved you and

himself to God as a sacrifice to take away your sins.

And God was pleased,
