Our Guppies Projects With Water Features.

My first posting on my Guppies or Peacock fishes was in March, 2017 and if you are interested you can click here to read about it. The guppies were first kept in a punch bowl and from there, the guppies were transferred to a bigger home. Hubby bought a mini pump and a pitcher and put up a simple water feature. Two months later, I did a post on the water feature and you can click here to take a look if you are interested.

We have since added another new water feature for our Guppies. Instead of spending money to buy the parts for a new water feature, I suggested to hubby to make use of the big round base that I have used for planting my flowers. I dug up the plants and removed the soil. Then hubby sealed up the drainage holes. He filled the base with water and let it soak for a few days. He only needed to buy the water pump and the rest are recyclable appliances from my kitchen.

We used a cracked crock pot, a burnt stainless steel kettle and a stainless steel teapot as components for the water feature.

The first batch of guppies were from our friend and he also caught the interest to start the water feature. He dug out his old water feature parts and assembled them together as shown below.

Our friend's water feature which he placed at the side of his house but found that it was too warm to sit and enjoy the fishes and the sound of running water.

He then moved the water feature to a cooler place where he can sit and enjoy his hobby. He sent us this photo with the above text message - his 5 stars hotel for his peacock fish.

It is fun to have friends having the same interest.

He did a healthy "green" landscaping for his guppies.

Back to our own guppies and their new home.

This is a different breed of colourful guppies.

Some have longer tails and it is fun and relaxing to watch them.

I love this particular guppy with a long orange tail which is so different from the others.

New Homes For Our Guppies & Beta Fish.

About 2 months ago, I did a post on my Guppy fishes. At that time, I placed the guppies in an old fashioned glass punch bowl which I took out from my store room. If you are interested, you can click here to take a look at it. 

The few guppies I acquired sort of re-ignited my hubby's interest in guppy rearing as a hobby. From there on, there was no stopping him. He retrieved an old earthen pot from the garden and he transferred the guppies over to the earthen pot which he placed just outside our main door. His friends happily gave him more guppies to add to the pot.

Few days later, hubby came back from the pottery shop with this water feature consisting of a earthen pitcher and a base. The sound of water flowing from the pitcher is very calming and relaxing to our soul and spirit. The earthen pot on the right will be the nursery for the guppy babies. We now have 2 new homes for our guppies.

In May 2016, I posted about my April Flame which was a Red Beta fish or Siamese Fighting Fish. It died and I got myself another new Beta fish. I couldn't find a red one so I settled for the one below.

 It took over this tiny glass bowl as its home.

Some have earlier commented that this bowl is too small for my Beta fish.

 And I have to agree with them. This is indeed too small.

Since all the guppies have shifted to their new home, this Beta fish can now take over the punch bowl.

 The punch bowl is so much bigger and more space for the Beta fish to swim around.

 The only setback is that we can't see the fish through the sides of the punch bowl.

 I gave it a tiny underwater garden with some water plants. Hope the water plants will increase for the Beta fish to enjoy.

I think for the time being, my Beta fish is quite happy with its new home. I am thinking of getting a better home with see through sides for me to enjoy the Beta fish.
