Growing Desert Rose Or Adenium Obesum In My Garden.

A good friend asked me whether I wanted some Red Flower Adenium Obesum or Desert Rose seedlings and I eagerly said yes! I had wanted to grow one because of the beautiful flowers. 

 This is my Red Desert Rose or Adenium Obesum plant.

 I received these 2 seedlings from my friend and I planted them into polystyrene cups. Thank you, Patricia for blessing me with these plants.

As they grew bigger, I transferred them into bigger pots.

 At present, my Desert Rose plant is almost 2 feet tall. It looks tall and skinny. It has thick stems and branches. Growing Desert Rose is new for me.

The 2nd plant has been pruned because the leaves were infested. I realized that I should have pruned it shorter but it is too late now as new leaves are now growing. So I will just leave them be for the time being. It is now about 1.5 feet tall. 

It is a succulent plant with oval shaped leaves. The leaves of my plant are about 4 inches long and 1.5 inches broad. They are thick and leathery.

Desert Rose needs sunlight to grow well and to bloom beautifully. It is drought tolerant.

Desert Rose is a beautiful and popular plant. It grows well in well drained soil. I watered them once a day and feed them fertilizer twice a month.

The sap of the plant is poisonous. Keep them out of reach of little children and pets.

The flowers have 5 petals.  They are in shades of red, pink with yellowish throat. I have seen flowers in many different colours in the nursery and they are very beautiful.

Mealy bugs is one of its common pest. Over watering may cause rotting. I am hoping my plants will grow well, bloom beautifully and bear their own seeds too.

Plant the good seeds of righteousness,

and you will reap a crop of my love;

Night Noodle Stall & Sleepy Head Cat.

Hubby and I were first introduced to these stall by my eldest son when these stalls were operating in Merdeka Garden. There were many stalls selling Malay, Indian and pork free Chinese food. There were some very tasty nasi lemak, all types of rendang, fried noodles, satay, ice kacang & etc., just to name a few.

After that, the stalls were told to shift to Labrooy Road. Now there seem to be less stalls and some of the older stalls were no longer there. Hubby and I still visit this place once in a while for the satay and curry noodles.

 Whenever we want a simple late night dinner, we will think of this noodle stall. Sometimes we come here for late night supper too. There were times we reached to find the stall not open for business.

 It is just a ordinary noodle stall.

It only operates from about 8 pm onwards.

 I never fail to order this deep fried crispy bean curd rolls. I like to dip them in curry soup and eat them fast while they are still crispy. My hubby will order other additional ingredients.

My favourite - flat rice noodle (kway teow) with dry curry gravy.

 I am introducing to you this Sleepy Head Cat we found in a coffee shop while we were having breakfast one morning.

 She was fast asleep under our table, regardless of what was going on around her.

 I called to her and the attention I was giving to the cat attracted the nearby customers.

 See, she didn't even open her eyes! She moved and went straight back to sleep! We all had a good laugh and were really amazed at this sleepy head cat. 

Ha ha ha! She continued to slumber throughout our breakfast and even when we got up to leave.

Floating Cotton Clouds & Lunch in Kanthan.

Today, I am joining Skywatch Friday and I want to share these floating cotton clouds in the sky in this post. These photos were taken at the end of last year. Currently, we are going through a heatwave and the sky are dull with some white clouds. The temperature is about an average of 35 deg.C. For the last few days we have been staying indoors with the fans in full blast and sleeping with the air conditioner on until morning.

These photos were taken on the Ipoh Penang highway.

The time was about 12 midday.

I think we were on one of our foodie trip somewhere in Chemor.

The clouds look like fluffy cotton floating so low.

When you concentrate on the clouds, they looked like little critters in a row.

Last Monday, we were once again in Kanthan to enjoy some of the Hakka delicacies. Notice the sky was so different from the above ones. The hot days have begun.

Being a second time visitors, we knew what we wanted.

We ordered some fried stuffed goodies.

2 stuffed tofu and 2 sui kau, cut for sharing.

A plate of chee cheong fun with long beans, porkie skin and curry gravy.
