Steamed Pork Belly With Taro & Sweet Potato Leaves For Dinner

We started out on our morning walk at about 6:35am. We passed under a street light and I couldn't resist taking a snapshot of our shadows. At that hour, there was nothing interesting except our shadows.

We both carry a walking stick just so the stray dogs will leave us alone.

We had a leaking rain gutter at our porch area and we were looking for a contractor to do the repair but many were not interested. Finally, we found someone willing.

The contractor and his worker dismantled the old metal rain gutter.

The old metal rain gutter was replaced by a pvc gutter pipe.

To keep the pipe in place, it was tied to the pillar next to it.

The hole was patched up with cement and a metal plate.

The pvc pipe will direct the rain water into the enclosed outlet drain below the ground.

The work was completed in less than 2 hours. The worker was instructed by the contractor to return the next day to check for any leakage of water. On the 3rd day, the contractor came over to check on the finished work. Thank God for this responsible contractor and the job well done.

While the repair work was being carried out, I cut some sweet potato leaves to prepare for dinner.

Sauteed sweet potato leaves with prawn paste and chilies.

We also had steamed pork belly with taro (from frozen pack), steamed long beans with sambal, and steamed rice for dinner. Ready cooked food in frozen packs come in handy when we are lazy to cook from scratch.

Smoked (Not Waxed) Duck, Sambal Long Beans & Noodle For Dinner

One of the joy we get from our early morning walk is getting to witness the beauty of sunrises.

I am glad that I have used up most of the frozen foodstuff from the freezer. In the midst of clearing, I found a piece of smoked (not waxed) duck which I thawed and steamed for dinner. Sorry for my mistake. I typed waxed instead of smoked duck.

Home grown long beans cooked with dried prawns sambal.

Only 1 potato left in the fridge. I boiled the potato, peeled off the skin, cut into wedges and drizzled with roasted sesame dressing.

Noodle for hubby and boiled potato for me.

Simple dinner for 2 people.

Pink Mexican Petunia (Pink Showers).

They can self propagate by dispersing their seeds. They grow well and do not need much care. Once they are allowed to bloom in your garden, they will stay.

Hawker Food For Dinner @ Kafe Best Hillview, Ipoh

I was feeling lazy on this particular Sunday and I wasn't in the mood to cook. So we ended up having dinner with our friends at Kafe Best Hillview.

We were early, reaching at about 6pm and most of the stalls were getting ready for business.

Chinese rojak - small portion for 4 people to share.

We wanted to order different varieties to share.

Oyster omelette (or chien in Hokkien)

Bbq stingray fish (ikan panggang) with spicy sauce.

Prawn noodle (Hokkien mee).

For the purpose of sharing, we asked for an empty bowl.

Fried noodle Mamak style (mee goreng).

Once we finished our dinner, we left for home.

I sowed cauliflower seeds but this looks like Chinese kai lan from the look of the beautiful waxy leaves.

Few days later, we went to Gourmet Square at Ipoh Garden for dinner with our friends.

We ordered bbq stingray fish.

Our friend ordered 2 pieces of spring rolls (popiah).

1 piece fried and 1 piece non fried.

In fact, we ordered a few more varieties but I forgot to snap photos.

This was the Ipoh Cathay cinema in the old days.

The cinema ceased operation and is now turned into a business centre.

The bright and striking red colour on the building is very eye catching.
