Bok Choy & Bitter Lettuce From My Garden

If I am not mistaken, the rainy season started in November last year and has continued until today. I was about to go out to the garden to harvest the bok choy but it started to rain. I have to wait for about 5 hours for the rain to stop before I could go out to the garden.

Bok choy from my garden. Credit given to hubby for his effort.
Bitter lettuce from my garden. I will be harvesting the leaves for tomorrow's meal.
If not enough, I cut cut some from this plant.
A fun mural for today.
Animals spraying or gunning water at the female dulang washers.
A dulang washer is someone who pans tin sediments on the water's edge.

Linking to Monday Mural.

Sprinkle me with the cleansing blood and I shall be clean again.
Wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
(Psalm 51:7, The Living Bible-TLB)

  4. Thank you Nancy. The bitter lettuce sounds tasty. I haven't seen bitter lettuce being sold in supermarkets. Are they a little bit bitter or quite bitter?

    1. So far maybe not in supermarkets but I do see the bitter lettuce being sold in wet markets or in mini markets.

  6. The mural captured this fun activity well! The rain must have given freshness to these leaves, and they all look healthy. The rain has stopped at my place, but it continues to shower in the delta area, where agricultural fields are flooded.

    1. Thank you, Angie. I think bitter lettuce and wild rocket are from the same lettuce family if I am not mistaken.

    1. I do eat bitter lettuce but it is not one of my favourites too. I hope after the rainy season, the hot season will not be too hot.

  17. The bok choy must be from your hubby's vertical garden. I wonder what is bitter lettuce, I don't think I have seen it before.

    1. Yes, bok choy from hubby's vertical garden. The locals call it "fu mak choy" in Cantonese.
