Animal Murals Part 1, Prawn Village, Tanjung Tualang

There are many wall murals in the Prawn Village, Tanjung Tualang. I have divided them into 2 parts.  Part 1 includes the following wall murals with panda bears, birds, dragonfly, and butterflies.

Breakfast At A Riverside Village House, Pasir Pinji, Ipoh

On the last day of February, our friends invited us for breakfast.

We drove to their house and from there, they directed us to this riverside village house in Pasir Pinji.

I ordered this Hor Hee noodle with mung bean noodle. This is one of the best Hor Hee noodle I have tasted. The soup is very flavourful.

Our friend's hubby ordered Prawn Noodle.

Our friend ordered pork noodle with generous ingredients in it consisting of an egg, slices of kidney, liver, meat balls, pork slices and green vegetable.

Hubby ordered stewed pork leg noodle which he enjoyed very much.

2 pieces of deep fried crunchy beansheet sheet.

Thanks to our friends for a delicious breakfast.

We will definitely be going back to try the other varieties.

A tiny butterfly paid my garden a visit.

Glutinous Rice, Chicken Curry & Herbal Pork Rib Soup

Last Saturday was a another hot and humid day. Usually, I only need to water my plants once in the morning but now I have to water them again in the afternoon. By then, most of them will be limp and looking half dead.

Breakfast plus lunch

The first time we went to buy the yellow glutinous rice, we were told it was sold out. The yellow glutinous rice or nasi kunyit is only available on Saturdays and Sundays.

On this Saturday morning, hubby get to enjoy this yellow or turmeric glutinous rice.

As for me, I decided to try the savoury glutinous rice and I requested for chicken curry too. This heavy breakfast last us till dinner. Both items with 2 portions of chicken curry cost RM10.

The fruiting season is ending and the vines will be removed soon.

Crossing of state borders has been lifted for those who have been fully vaccinated starting from the 11th October, 2021 (Monday). It is good to see the number of daily reported cases going down. I don't know how accurate is the figure reported. According to the relevant authorities, we have to learn to live with the virus and live life as normal as we can since the virus is not going to go away now or in the near future. No more MCO and no more recovery phases.

Currently, not all eateries are willing or ready to open up for dine-in yet. Many are waiting for situation to improve and for all their staffs to be fully vaccinated. Not everyone is confident to dine-in yet, preferring to have home cooked food or depend on food delivery.

I decided to cook herbal pork rib soup aka Bak Kut Teh in Hokkien.

My home cooked Bak Kut Teh using pork ribs, pork belly and Chinese herbs. I added tofu puffs and fresh abalone mushrooms. Hubby doesn't like the smell of cilantro so I used spring onions.

Blanched greens, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.

The following are photos of a butterfly I found fluttering around in my garden.

I waited for it to settle and of all places, decided to cling to the underside of a leaf belong to the Ciku tree.

I have to bend to get these snapshots, trying not to frighten it off.

I managed to get a good image of the butterfly.

The butterfly decided to change location.

Chicken Rendang With Mantou For Dinner

We started our morning walk early on this particular day. 

6:39am

Pink sunrise at 6:40am.

Hardly any traffic on the road on the right side.

Since we started out early, we finished our morning walk early.

We drove to Menglembu to buy breakfast. Our preferred coffee shop was closed, so we went to another coffee shop to buy takeaway curry noodles. Curry noodle with bbq pork and pig skin (dry version) for hubby. Curry noodle (soup version) with 3 pieces of yong tau foo for me.

Cut pear and gold kiwi fruit for lunch.

Late afternoon: Received a call from our neighbour telling me not to cook dinner. They have ordered 2 sets of chicken rendang and mantou from a Chinese restaurant for us. 

I only cooked this angled luffa + green okra dish with dried shrimp and egg.

This critter was fluttering here and there in my garden. It stopped and I quickly took out my handphone and took a snapshot from a distance. I had to zoom in because if I get too near, it will fly off again.

After the 1st shot, it fluttered off again and landed on this plant behind some flower pots. This is the best I managed. Not sure if this critter is a moth or a butterfly.

Wonton Noodle With Swee Sour Pork Rib + Sui Kao

It was raining when we woke up. No morning walk, just waiting for the rain to slow down so that we can go out to buy breakfast. We haven't eaten our favourite wonton noodle for a long time because of the long queue. Since it was a wet, wet morning, the queue might not be long and waiting time will be shorter.

Driving out to town at 8:25am, still raining.

True enough, there were only 2 customers ahead of us.

We provided food carriers for the boss to pack everything separately.

We added 2 sui kao to the wontons.

There were 10 wontons for 2 portions.

Stewed sweet sour pork ribs (10 pieces for 2 portions).

Pickled green chilis (boss told his wife to give extra).

I love the extra thin wonton noodle.

One portion is not enough for hubby, so he ordered 1 + half portion.

This butterfly stopped fluttering long enough for me to take some snapshots.

I was standing under the angled luffa vines, so I have to aim my hand phone camera upwards.

It was slowly opening and closing its wings.

This is the best shot.

Hubby remembered that there was one last portion of stewed duck in the fridge. This one dish is enough for him. I only need to steam rice, made chive omelette and heated up the stewed duck.
