Delayed Mother's Day Celebration At Jimm's Cafe, Ipoh

We stayed home and had a simple home cooked dinner on Mother's Day. Mother's Day was on a Sunday and we didn't want to join in the crowd that evening. We had a delayed Mother's Day celebration 4 days later and it was a Thursday evening.

We started the day with a morning walk at about 6:50am.
We chose Jimm's Cafe in Taman Kar King, Ipoh for our dinner. We celebrated Mother's Day with my ex-colleague/friend and her husband.
We called to reserved a table for 4 people.
For drinks, the mothers ordered orang, apple, palm.
One father ordered root float and another father ordered ice water.
~~~~~
For food, we ordered the following for 4 people.
Seafood Wat Tan Hor (flat rice noodle with egg gravy).
Hot plate chargrill chicken.
A mixed platter.
Black pepper sauce and mushroom sauce.
For dessert, we had mixed ice-cream.
(3 scoops of ice cream: vanilla, chocolate & mango flavour).
Total cost of dinner: RM140.
We had a wonderful dinner with good fellowship. To complete the dinner, the mixed ice creams with fruits is the best choice.
Choose my instruction instead of silver,
knowledge rather than choice gold,
for wisdom is more precious than rubies,
and nothing you desire can compare with her.
New Year Eve Dinner At Kafe Best Hillview, Ipoh
Happy New Year 2021 to all!
It was New Year Eve, the last day of year 2020 and to us, it was just like any other ordinary day. As usual, we got up for our early morning walk.
These days, we walk around this area where the shops are. The streets are lighted up and there is no need to worry about social distancing.
Morning sky at 7:50am - view of Kledang Hill.
Sunrise at about 7:50am.
Can you see the silver lining on the clouds?
We went to a nearby supermarket to buy some essential and bought the above 3 Susu Mangoes for RM5.90.
~~~~~
We had New Year Eve Dinner with our friends at Kafe Best Hillview. We prefer a place where we can enjoy varieties of hawker food at reasonable price.
We ordered 2 pieces of popiah (fresh spring rolls)
Mee Goreng (fried noodle Mamak style).
Ikan panggang (bbq stingray with spicy sauce).
Ayam satay (chicken satay with peanut sauce).
The chicken meat is cooked just nice, not overcooked.
Chinese rojak for dessert.
Since there is no plan for countdown for the New Year, we went straight home after dinner.
Bleeding Heart flowers by the roadside, in front of a house.

Lord, you know the hopes of humble people.
Surely you will hear their cries and
comfort their hearts by helping them.

Pre Chinese New Year Celebration At Delight Seafood Restaurant, Ipoh.

Every year before we usher in the Lunar New Year, our group, both the retirees and those still working, will come together for lunch to celebrate our friendship. We hope to keep this tradition alive for many years to come. Again, we chose Delight Seafood Restaurant because of the location and the quiet ambience.
 A pair of red fans with Chinese character = Double Blessings!
 Chinese New Year decoration.
 While waiting for the others to turn up, the early ones posed for some photos.
 A group photo for sweet memories before we started to enjoy our lunch.
 #1 - Lo Hei or Yee Sang (Prosperity or Blessing Toss)
Everyone will use a pair of chopsticks to toss or mix this dish before we eat.
 #2 - Crab meat soup
The server did the serving in individual bowls.
 #3 - Steamed fish
Served with chopped salted radish, garlic crisps and soy sauce.
 #4 - Braised pork leg
(with mushrooms, oysters and black moss or algae)
 #5 - Fried soy sauce prawns.
 #6 - Mixed vegetables with cashew nuts.
 #7 - Steamed rice with waxed meat and sausages.
#8 - Snow skin mochi with durian flavoured filling.
8 course lunch set at about RM 700.
The food was more than enough for the 13 of us.

Why is everyone hungry for more?
"More, more," they say. "More, more."
I have God's more-than-enough,
more joy in one ordinary day
than they get in all their shopping sprees.
At day's end I'm ready for sound sleep,
For you, GOD, have put my life back together.

Pot Bless Lunch To Celebrate The 1st Day Of New Year 2020

There is no grand celebration for the 1st day of New Year 2020. We started off the new year with a pot bless gathering in my house. My friend and I came up with some nice home cooked food for the 4 of us. I cooked 3 items and my friend contributed 2 items for our new year lunch.
 My 1st dish - Black Vinegar Pork Leg with wood fungus and lots of ginger slices.
 My 2nd dish - Stewed Chinese cabbage with nam yue (fermented bean curd).
 My 3rd dish - Egg omelette with chopped kale.
My friend bought the kale and gave half to me.
 Dish cooked by my friend - Sliced arrow head stewed with minced pork and kale.
 My friend also bought some roast pork and sausage from the market.

We had a very satisfying and filling lunch without any rice.
After washing up, we went to a shopping mall to walk off some calories.
 As usual, I am drawn to this pillar aquarium with live fishes swimming in it.
 I was happy taking snapshots while my hubby and friends shopped.
 I don't know the name of these fishes.
 Some stopped to watch the fishes but I was the only one taking pictures.
 Hubby and friends joined me after their shopping.
I enjoyed watching the fishes swimming graciously in the water.

Linking to Saturday's Critters.

"In a word, what I'm saying is, Grow up. You're kingdom subjects.
Now live like it. Live out your God-created identity.
Live generously and graciously toward others,
the way God lives toward you."
