Fish Slices + Seaweed With Thick Rice Vermicelli Noodle

One this particular morning, we woke up quite early.

Sunrise at 6:50am
We were ready to start our morning walk.
But first, let me take some snapshots.
The moonlight lit up the place.
Not a very clear picture due to the poor lighting at 6:55am.
Our Bauhinia Kockiana in full bloom.
~~~~~
We had breakfast appointment with my ex-colleagues and friends.
A friend and I ordered this thick rice vermicelli with grouper fish slices and seaweed.
Hubby ordered pig stomach noodle.
Another friend ordered shredded chicken noodle - no photo.
We ordered a plate of chee cheong fun for sharing.
We also ordered roasted pork to share - no photo.
~~~~~
Simple home cooked dinner.
"Lala Otak-otak"
A friend gave 2 packs of "otak-otak". I took out 1 pack for dinner. I finished the whole thing because hubby doesn't like.
Hubby had most of this wild boar curry (RM10) bought from a nearby Indian stall.
I only need to cook the above dish: Pumpkin with dried shrimp, ginger slices and chopped garlic.
A satisfying dinner with steamed brown rice.

For the Lord says, "Because he loves me, I will rescue him;
I will make him great because he trusts in my name.
When he calls on me, I will answer;
I will be with him in trouble and rescue him and honor him.
I will satisfy him with a full life and give him my salvation."

Dinner At San Low Seafood Restaurant, Johor

After having collected the Nyonya chang (dumplings) and pineapple tarts, we continued our journey to Johor.

Not much traffic on the highway.
When we reached Johor, our hosts were waiting to take us out for dinner. Not wanting to eat rice, our hosts ordered the following.
Wat Tan Hor - Flat rice noodle in thick egg gravy.
The locals called this Smack Noodle (fried rice vermicelli).
Pea sprouts or pea shoots stir fried with garlic.
Deep fried baby squids.
Teochew sweet taro paste with ginkgo nuts and pumpkin (Or Nee).
Grilled fish cake (Otak-otak).
This is the place we had our first dinner in Johor.
It was a dark, rainy evening.
~~~~~
Back home in my garden.
After a long absence, a Cleome plant came out of the ground.
It grew and bloomed its first Pink Cleome flower (spider flower).
Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed
- not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence -
continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling.
for it is God who works in you to will and
to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
Stew, Blanch, Steam, Fry & Bake Just For 1 Meal.
This is another pot bless or pot luck dinner we had with our friends. We informed each other what we were going to cook. We usually used whatever we have available in our fridge to cook the dishes. Here are the dishes I contributed to the dinner.
Stewed pork and home grown white and green bitter gourd with salted black beans and salted soy beans.
Blanched home grown white brinjals (eggplants), okra and French beans given by a friend.
Steamed egg and tofu.
~~~~~
The following dishes were contributed by our friend.
Fried otak-otak.
Fried white pomfrets.
She also baked and brought along some cup cakes.
~~~~~
We had dinner at about 4 pm because we didn't had any lunch. After washing up after dinner, we watched TV, chatted and then we droved over to the nearby food court to have some chilled dessert.
Hubby and I shared this cream corn with ice shaving.
~~~~~
Sharing some plants photos here.
Found this spotted caladiums by the roadside.
Water Jasmine (multi layered petals) flower from my garden.

It is possible to give away and become richer!
It is also possible to hold on too tightly and lose everything.
Yes, the liberal man shall be rich!
By watering others, he waters himself.

Otak-otak, Chicken Wings & Prawns+Pineapple Curry For Dinner

It is fun to have a combined meal with friends. We have both parties doing the cooking and contributing the food to the meal. In this way the work is reduced by half and we get to enjoy each other's cooking plus company. We had the following items for one of our early combined dinner at 4:30 pm.

Our friend ordered this Otak-otak (grilled fish cake). I love otak-otak and maybe one day I will try to make this.

Fried rice from the same friend. We each had a small portion of this fried rice.The same friend made Fried Chicken Wings with a Air-Fryer cooker.

~~~~~
The following items were from my kitchen.
Prawns and pineapple curry.
A simple Jicama (sengkuang), carrot & dried prawns dish without the dried cuttlefish which I thought I had in the fridge but couldn't find it.
Home made Herbal Jelly (Gui Ling Gao) for dessert.
Since we finished dinner early, we went to one of the shopping mall for window shopping and walking exercise. Lots of lighted colourful lanterns ahead of the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival (Moon Cake Festival) which falls on the 1st October, 2020.
My pink multi-layered petals hibiscus. The colour is a faded pink because it was taken at late afternoon.
Linking to Garden Affair.
Have a Blessed Sunday!
For you have a new life.
It was not passed on to you from your parents,
for the life they gave you will fade away.
This new one will last forever, for it comes from Christ,
God's ever-living Message to men.
Lunch At Kedai Bak Kut Teh Hin Hock, Johor Bahru.
The next day was a Saturday and everyone took their own sweet time to wake up. In Johor Bahru (JB), there was no walking exercise and we do not take any breakfast. We only had early lunch and dinner. While in JB, every meal was a new experience for me. I have passed by JB a few times, but this is the first time I have stayed in JB.
My eyes caught sight of this yellow feather as we passed by this way.
This is where we had our first lunch in JB.
Kedai Bak Kut Teh Hin Hock.
If you want steamed fish, you will have to choose the fish first.
Open kitchen
Just after this, all these tables were filled up.
While waiting for the food to be served, we ordered some otak-otak (Muar style).
Some of the chosen condiments.
We ordered the following dishes for 5 people to share.
Bak Kut Teh (pork rib herbal soup) with bean curd crisps in a clay pot.
Blanched Malabar Spinach topped with lots of dried shrimps.
Stewed pork leg in black soy sauce
Blanched Romaine Lettuce
Steamed fish with lots of spring onions, crispy fried shallots & black soy sauce.
Yam or taro rice - my favourite!
After this hearty lunch, we need to take a walk in one of the shopping malls.
Hari Raya decorations in the shopping mall.
I can't remember which shopping mall.
The person who has been born into God's family does not make a practice of sinning
because now God's life is in him; so he can't keep on sinning,
for this new life has been born into him and controls him
- he has been born again.
