Yam Bean Dumplings, Guilinggao, Crispy Noodle With Egg Gravy

This was a Wednesday morning.

Sunrise at 7:55am
On the reverse side, view of Kledang Hill.
Spicy fried beehoon (RM2) for hubby.
We like the yam bean dumplings so we went back to buy 4 packs for RM10. Gave 2 packs to our neighbour.
I was watering my plants in the garden and I saw this big grasshopper on my green brinjal. Good thing it didn't damage the brinjal, so I just left it alone. On and off, I can see this grasshopper in my garden.
That afternoon, I cooked black herbal jelly (guilinggao).
Gave 2 tubs to our neighbour.
~~~~~
Home cooked dinner.
I cooked sliced pork with napa cabbage, carrot and egg soup.
Then I thicken it slightly with cornflour + water combination.
I had 2 wonton noodles in the fridge. I loosen the wonton noodle and deep fried it till crispy. Then I placed the crispy noodle in 2 separate plates.
When we were ready to eat, I poured the gravy and ingredients over the crispy noodle.
I like to eat the crispy noodle while it is still crispy.
Sunset at 7:28pm.
Lovely blue sky at 7:30pm.
Praying and looking forward to the day when the pandemic will be brought under control.
We toss the coin, but it is the Lord who controls its decision.
Chee Cheong Fun, Popiah & Chicken Chop Rice With Cucumber Pickle
By now I am getting a bit confused because there seem to be overlapping MCOs for us in Ipoh. So for us Ipohites, if there are conflicting sop, then it is safer to follow whichever is stricter to avoid getting a fine from the authority. Today is the last day of EMCO for us. So from tomorrow onwards we will follow the sop for the FMCO aka the Total Lockdown, until further notice. The only difference is that we can go out for our morning walk but we can only do so after 7am.
The following morning sky photos were taken before EMCO.
Morning sky at 6:45am, outside my house.
Morning sky at 6:55am, at the nearby shops.
This is the best time for walking, when we have the whole streets to ourselves (almost).
Pink sky at 7am, at the nearby shops.
~~~~~
Breakfast.
Our favourite chee cheong fun (steamed flat rice rolls with dried shrimp) from Canning Garden. Generous toppings of crispy fried shallot, sesame seeds, green chili pickle, shallot oil and soy sauce.
Self-propagated cockscomb plants outside my house.
Popiah lunch, blessing from our neighbour.
Dessert: home made guilinggao (herbal jelly).
~~~~~
My neighbour called and told me,
 "No need to cook dinner, I have ordered 2 sets of dinner for you".
Rice with cucumber pickle (2 pax)
Hainanese style chicken chop (2 pax)
The rice given was big portion, so we kept half of each pax in the fridge.
We can fried it for the next meal.
Hainese style chicken chop rice with appetizing cucumber pickle.
Thanks to our neighbour, it was a wonderful and satisfying dinner.
My son, honey whets the appetite and so does wisdom!
When you enjoy becoming wise, there is hope for you!
A bright future lies ahead!
Thankful For The Food We had
After we have finished a few rounds of morning walk, we went to one of our regular coffee shops for breakfast. Most mornings, hubby and I will share a bowl of noodles but that morning, I wanted to eat loh pan mee which hubby doesn't like. So, we each ended up ordering and eating something which we enjoy eating.
Our unsweetened black coffee.
Hubby ordered fried noodle.
I ordered a bowl of Loh Pan Mee with thick gravy, with black vinegar added.
Later in the morning, I made herbal jelly (gui ling gao).
This herbal jelly is soothing for dry throat.
I had leftover rice in the fridge.
I cooked fried rice with onions, dried prawns, and egg for lunch.
A friend dropped by to visit us and gave us this mango from their garden.
Another friend gave us the above steamed buns.
We had steamed buns for dinner and supper.
This dragonfly paid us a visit.
I tried to guide it out of the house but it was flying all over the places.
It finally landed on the handle of my first-aid box. I slowly reached out to it with a fly swatter and it cling on to it. Then I brought it to the window and out it flew away.
Saw this baby grasshopper on my hibiscus.
It had been feeding and pooing on my hibiscus.
Grasshoppers like to feed on the petals of my hibiscus.
Instead, feed your enemy if he is hungry.
If he is thirsty give him something to drink and
you will be "heaping coals of fire on his head."
In other words, he will feel ashamed of himself
for what he has done to you.
Otak-otak, Chicken Wings & Prawns+Pineapple Curry For Dinner
It is fun to have a combined meal with friends. We have both parties doing the cooking and contributing the food to the meal. In this way the work is reduced by half and we get to enjoy each other's cooking plus company. We had the following items for one of our early combined dinner at 4:30 pm.
Our friend ordered this Otak-otak (grilled fish cake). I love otak-otak and maybe one day I will try to make this.
Fried rice from the same friend. We each had a small portion of this fried rice.The same friend made Fried Chicken Wings with a Air-Fryer cooker.
~~~~~

The following items were from my kitchen.

Prawns and pineapple curry.
A simple Jicama (sengkuang), carrot & dried prawns dish without the dried cuttlefish which I thought I had in the fridge but couldn't find it.
Home made Herbal Jelly (Gui Ling Gao) for dessert.
Since we finished dinner early, we went to one of the shopping mall for window shopping and walking exercise. Lots of lighted colourful lanterns ahead of the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival (Moon Cake Festival) which falls on the 1st October, 2020.
My pink multi-layered petals hibiscus. The colour is a faded pink because it was taken at late afternoon.

Linking to Garden Affair.

Have a Blessed Sunday!

For you have a new life.
It was not passed on to you from your parents,
for the life they gave you will fade away.
This new one will last forever, for it comes from Christ,
God's ever-living Message to men.

Simple Take Away Dinner & Pink Sunset

There was a slight drizzle when we woke up yesterday morning so have to forgo our morning walk. After breakfast, the drizzle stopped and I went out to sweep the driveway.
White rain lilies blooming in front of my house.
These rain lilies usually appear during rainy seasons.
I was feeling some dryness in my throat and these chilled home made black herbal jelly or gui ling gao is good for soothing dry throat.

Take away dinner
Yesterday evening, I was feeling lazy and not in the mood to cook. Hubby went out with the stainless steel tiffin carriers or food containers and came back with the following dishes.
Stewed pork ribs with taro or yam in red fermented bean curd or nam yue.
Sweet sour Chinese mustard.
Fried fish.
The above 3 dishes including white rice for 2 persons cost RM16.50
After dinner, I went out to the front of my house and saw this hibiscus. Every day there are new hibiscus blooms but the flowers only last for a day. Took this snapshot in the evening light.
Pink sunset at 7:40 pm.
Hopefully, tomorrow we will have clear sky so that we can go for our morning walk.

Don't brag about your plans for tomorrow -
wait and see what happens.
