Dinner 2nd Day CNY 2023

On most days, I only have to cook dinner. Many eateries were closed on the 1st and 2nd day of Chinese New Year 2023 (Sunday & Monday). Those that were opened were fully booked. So since Sunday, I have been cooking both lunch and dinner.

Blanched Chinese baby kai lan, drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
Poached Bearded Chicken.
There is a vast difference between a steamed and a poached chicken in texture and taste. My whole family prefers poached than steamed chicken.
Pounded ginger mixed with a bit of salt and with some hot garlic oil poured over it. A great condiment to eat with the poached chicken. Preferably add in some chopped spring onions but I didn't have any. I thought I bought some but couldn't find any spring onions in the fridge.
2 Sundays before Chinese New Year, there was a sponsored buffet lunch at The Salvation Army Perak Home For The Aged in Jelapang. It was a combined celebration of Christmas 2022, New Year 2023 and Chinese New Year 2023.
An old fashioned house front in Penang. The house looks like nobody has been staying in it as you can see all the letters were not picked up.

Stay always within the boundaries where God's love can reach and
bless you. Wait patiently for the eternal life that our Lord Jesus Christ
in his mercy is going to give you.

Nasi Kunyit, Prawn Noodle & Poached Chicken Leg

Most mornings, hubby will decide where to go for breakfast. I will only decide what to eat when I reached the place. On this particular morning, we went to Restoran Meng Meng Kee.

Hubby ordered nasi kunyit (turmeric glutinous rice + chicken curry).
I ordered prawn noodle which by itself is not spicy. I am still avoiding spicy food for the time being so I didn't touch the spicy sauce.
~~~~~
Home cooked dinner
I poached 2 chicken legs in slow boiling water + ginger slices + garlic. I didn't have spring onions so I used garlic. When the chicken legs are cooked, I shredded the meat off the bones. Then I drizzled oyster + soy sauce and garlic oil over it before serving.
2 bowls of chicken soup that was used for poaching the chicken. I was nice to drink without adding any salt.
Broccoli cooked with marinated minced meat.
(these were extra that were kept in the fridge).
Steamed brown rice.
I steamed the rice with a bit extra water to soften the rice for easy digestion.
The following hill / cave photos were taken outside the Gunung Lang area, facing the road.
Ipoh city is surrounded by limestone hills.
With the many limestone hills in Ipoh, the underground water is good for growing beansprouts.
 Ipoh is famous for blanched beansprout and poached chicken which attracts tourist from far and near.
There is a jogging / walking track along these hills.
Behind these hills is the Gunung Lang recreational park and lake.
Shall I look to the mountain gods for help?
No! My help is from Jehovah who made the mountains!
And the heavens too! He will never let me stumble, slip, or fall.
For he is always watching, never sleeping.
Ipoh Taugeh & Chicken (Nga Choy Kai) For Dinner
We are still in the monsoon season and most mornings we have overcast sky.
Overcast sky at 8:15am.
This pot of Coleus is doing very well.
~~~~~
No home cooking on Independence Day, so we had dinner at "Buntong Nga Choy Kai" which is near to us.
We ordered a small plate of blanched beansprout (nga choy in Cantonese or taugeh in Hokkien).
Poached chicken (small).
Blended ginger to go with the poached chicken.
A bowl of flat rice noodle (koay teow) in clear soup.
Independence Day dinner for 2 people.
Sunset at 7:30pm

Hallelujah!
O servants of Jehovah, praise his name.
Blessed is his name forever and forever.
Praise him from sunrise to sunset!
For he is high above the nations;
his glory is far greater than the heavens.

Beef Rice, Mee Sua, Pork Porridge & Carrot Noodle At Restoran Wing Hoong Lapan, Ipoh

Some days I have the mood to cook and some days I just don't feel like cooking and this is one of those lazy days. We planned to eat at Restoran Wing Hoong Lapan which we came to know that it has shifted to a new location. We used to patronize this eatery at its old location opposite a church at Jalan Yang Kalsom, Ipoh.

Restoran Wing Hoong Lapan,
16, Jalan Centrepoint 1, Jalan Bharu, Off Jalan Tokong, Ipoh.
This place serves porridge, noodles and rice.
On a closer look, these are roses hanging from above.
This was painted on the left pillar.
And this was on the right pillar.
Nice and comfortable interior.

The following photos were taken when we visited Penang about a month ago.
McNair Place is a Bed & Breakfast located quite near to the hotel we were staying in. This place provides an exciting heritage experience offering rooms that are fully air-conditioned with en-suite bathrooms.
Located in the same vicinity of shopping malls, nightlife, hawker food centers and a short stroll away from the city center of Georgetown, Penang.
Peace Lily blooming in my garden.

But all who humble themselves before the Lord
shall be given every blessing and shall have wonderful peace.
