Every Sunday, our church worship service ends around 12 midday. After that our group would gather at a chosen eatery for lunch and fellowship. We have a few places to choose from and for this particular Sunday, we chose Restoran Ma Chai in Menglembu.
Restoran Ma Chai is a popular place especially on weekends. The place will be packed during lunch time and especially on public holidays. On that Sunday, we managed to get parking bays for our cars and were able to secure a table too even though it was crowded.
Hubby's plain flat rice noodle (chee cheong fun) with stinky beans sambal (sambal petai) plus curry gravy, sprinkled with sesame seeds.
My plate of stuffed flat rice noodle (chee cheong fun with filling). I added some fragrant spicy fried chicken meat plus mushroom gravy, sprinkled with sesame seeds.
A piece of crispy deep fried chicken, well marinated and flavourful, for both of us. The outside is crispy and the flesh juicy and tender. I didn't take snapshots of other member's food.
All the food are displayed in a glass casing and customers are to line up and give the orders. Pay as the plate of food is handed over to the customer. The popular crispy deep fried chicken is on the right side.
More varieties to choose from. Plain white rice and flat rice noodles are both available to go with all the side dishes.
There are many types of spicy food and curries. There are chicken curry, octopus curry, wild boar curry, sambal anchovies, etc.
There's the stinky beans sambal (sambal petai) and the dish upfront is the spicy deep fried chicken which is my favourite.
White radish cake at the background. Taro cake at the front.
I always enjoy fellowship with other believers. Sounds like you have a nice time too.
ReplyDeleteWe look forward to Sundays where we have time to get together for warm fellowship and getting to know each other better.

Happy Tuesday to you, Manisha!
DeleteThey sell really a lot of food. I think only in Ipoh are the chee cheong funs served with mushroom gravy.
ReplyDeleteCCF with mushroom gravy is common. Usually there is curry gravy with pork's skin, red sweet sauce etc.
Deletenice to have lunch with your church group.
ReplyDeleteWe usually do that every Sunday, that's the only time where we get to meet.
DeleteI like the chee cheong fun...
ReplyDeleteIt is very yummy!
DeleteOh all this marvelous food. So good. I want some of all of it.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day. ☺
Thank you, and I wish you a fantastic day too!
DeleteLooking good, such a nice way to spend a Sunday with other church members.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It is easier to meet after church every Sunday.
DeleteI love eating out on Sundays. Looks like you two had a fabulous meal! T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteYes, Sunday is the day most of us take the opportunity to rest and enjoy each other's company.
DeleteWe go out to a restaurant most Sunday with our church friends also after church. I think a lot of people are doing this.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week.
Hugs,
JB
Yes, that's the day when we are gathered at the church and it is a great time to enjoy a meal together.

Zoe
Thank you, Zoe. Have a lovely day!
DeleteSounds like a great time, and what a nice selection of food! :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes I do not know what to eat, because there are so many choices.
DeleteNancy, this is the first time I see chee cheong fan eaten with other dishes, in place of rice. I only know the ones with sweet sauce or curry sauce.
ReplyDeleteThis is the place we get to add many varieties to the CCF.
DeleteI've never imagined the combination of sambal petai with rice noodles before. Very unique!
ReplyDeleteWe do not get this petai combination in every place. Its a great combination!
DeleteWith so much varieties to choose from, sometimes it is hard to decide what to eat. Spoilt for choice. Certainly the desserts are most welcome especially during this hot weather.
ReplyDeleteAnything for a ice chilling bowl of desserts! It is terribly hot!
DeleteEverything looks super good. I prefer the flat chee cheong fun to the round ones though. Never knew can eat together with dishes!
ReplyDeleteIf I eat the flat CCF, it must have dried shrimp.
DeleteMa Chai? Minions? LOL.... clever idea la they make the egg like that
ReplyDeleteYes, I also think so...the eggs will be in uniform size.
DeleteThe crispy deep fried chicken looks good. In such weather I do not mind having cold dessert to cool myself down.
ReplyDeleteThe fried chicken is our favourite, well marinated and tasty.
DeleteLooks like great food to fill our stomachs up but I'm not sure if I would like some of type of the food. I like trying different types of food but...........
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that you get together as a group after church to enjoy the food that God gives you. Wonderful.
Have a wonderful day Nancy. See ya.
