For the past weeks, there was this little bird chirping away in my garden. It was very busy flying in and out of my garden. Even my presence in the garden did not frighten it away. There were times when I was sitting on a low stool in the garden weeding, this little bird flew quite near to me. I quickly went in to get my camera hoping to take a snapshot of it.
There was 3 pots of hydrangea plants placed near the wall. I noticed the little bird had been going in and out behind one of my hydrangea plants. I waited until the bird flew away and I took a peek behind the hydrangea plant but I could not see anything.
After I have taken my camera, I went back and sat on the low stool again. I waited for the bird and it came back. I managed to get a snapshot of it on the chain link fencing.
A few days later, I heard soft muffled sound coming from behind the hydrangea plants. Again I took another peek but I still couldn't see anything.
The first time, I saw the bird came back with a small baby lizard between its beak. It was too fast for me, and I missed taking a photo. In a short while, it came back again with a green worm and I managed to take a snapshot of it.
Two or three days later, I gently parted the leaves again. The chicks seemed to sense my presence and immediately they were silent. This time I saw the little nest with two tiny chicks. I quickly took a few shots and moved away from the plant.
I couldn't help marveling. With just 2 to 3 hydrangea leaves, the bird is able to build a nest to support the chicks.
From there on, I dare not go near the plants except to water them. Most of the time, the mother bird was busy bringing food for the chicks.
There was one incident when I accidentally rustled the leaves of the plant next to the nest and out flew the two chicks. I must have frightened them and I felt so bad and worried for their safety. They flew a short distance and they dropped to the ground. I was worried they may not be strong enough to fly or take care of themselves.
A short while later I saw one of the chicks on the bonnet of my car. It later flew back to the garden and I could see and hear the mother bird calling and watching over the chicks. I prayed and hop that they will be strong enough to fly to safety.
My friend, Shirley sent me this photo of her pet dogs. They are from the same parents, yet they look so different. Aren't they adorable?

I admire how you manage to take shots of birds. I can't never do it. Your hands must be very fast. Those birdies are cute. Funny, your friend's pet dog, though from the same parent but look different especially the middle one.
ReplyDeleteIt is not easy and I have to keep on trying to get these photos. Mother nature never fails to amaze us. Its difficult to believe the dogs are from the same parent.
DeleteOh goodness they are cute, and it just goes to show same family different looks right!
ReplyDeleteThe dogs are really cute.
DeleteWonderful captures of the bird and it's babies. The nest is in a neat place. I love the last shot of the doggies, they are all cuties. Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eileen. A happy day to you too!
DeleteBirds are amazing architectures. Lovely photos, Nancy!
ReplyDeleteYes, the birds do build great nest.
DeleteThere are robins who love to build their nests in our front door frame, but this year they're not here. I guess they moved to the holly tree beside our house. Love to observe birds. They're great builders indeed.
ReplyDeleteI too love to watch the birds making their home in my garden.
Deletethose are cute pups. :) i hope the little ones make it, too. so cute!

DeleteAwww, on the birds and your friends dogs. They are indeed very good looking dogs.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day my friend. ☺
Both the birds and dogs are very cute.
DeleteI was worried for the chicks when I saw the photo of the 3 dogs. To my relief, the dogs are not staying at the same place as the chicks. Please keep us updated on the progress of the chicks. Hope they grow up to be strong birds.
ReplyDeleteI think and I hope they chicks are able to fly. I longer hear the mama birds and baby chicks in my garden. I hope they have move on.
DeleteAww, how cute the little ones are. I hope they make it. Sometimes you just have to wonder how the tiny ones survive at all. Cute pups.
ReplyDeleteAs long as they are able to fly, I think they will be alright.
DeleteNow thata last shots is class but the shots of the nest of babies is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Margaret. I actually didn't expect the babies photos to turn out well.
DeleteOh the little birds are so cute and I am sure they will find their way back. B
ReplyDeleteThat is my prayer and hope, that the baby chicks will be safe.

DeleteI adore animals; so, I am loving these photos! The birds have been taunting my cat who is indoors behind the window. :) T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteLol! How you cat wishes she could get out to catch the birds.
DeleteHow fun having baby birds nesting in your garden. I'm amazed that the leaves was their nest. I wonder what kind of birds they are...
ReplyDeleteLove the cute dogs too.
Have a great weekend Nancy.
Hugs,
JB
I do not know the name of the birds. A few types of birds have nested in my garden.
DeleteLast time, my late grandparents house, used to have the nest too...
ReplyDeleteOoo..how nice to see them hatch their chicks.
DeleteYour story reminded me of my mum's garden. A couple birds built nest among her orchid pot and last week the eggs hatched. One survive but one died.
ReplyDeleteHaha. Cute dogs.
I wondered why the other died. Once a chick fell off from the nest and couldn't take off in time, my dog killed it. From then on, whenever there are baby chicks, I will tie up the dog until they are able to fly off.
DeleteNancy, how lovely that you found the bird nest with 2 cute chicks! Good thing that they are safe. I found a bird nest once on my Japanese bamboo with one tiny egg in it. But a few days later the whole thing disappeared. I suspect the neighborhood cat was the culprit. Your friends dogs are lovely!
ReplyDeleteMy area also has a lot of stray cats and I am glad the birds are safe. Lol! they are really so cute.
DeleteOo the chicks are so cute after they 'dried' off!
ReplyDeleteErr the dogs... same mother AND father hor... hmmm something's odd here....
Yes, Stacy. Everyone including the owner is amazed at their difference!
DeleteGreat pictures.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carolann. Have a great day!
DeleteLovely shots of the birds, it seems like they were about ready to leave the nest anyways if they can fly from the bush to the car.
ReplyDelete~
I take comfort in this, that they will be strong enough to fly to safety!
DeleteCute doggies and I love the pretty bird and it's chicks. Adorable photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!

DeleteI really loved the of the 3 pups best.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Margaret. Have a blessed Sunday!
DeleteAww sweet little mama bird & her chicks! Hope they do well! Hard to believe those puppies are from the same parents but they each are adorable!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Christine. Hard to believe but they are of same parents! Have a blessed Sunday!
DeleteWhat an awesome and sweet find in your garden. It is so hard to believe a bird's nest is made within the meeting space of a few leaves. The mother bird is so tiny so I can imagine the chicks are very tiny too. Have a wonderful Sunday. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joyful. I am learning a lot of amazing things through my garden and getting to see nature at work right in my small garden. Have a beautiful Monday!
DeleteLovely photos of the birds. Magical moments to cherish. The three dogs are cute, we have two dogs ourselves.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Daniel for your visit and comments. Our dogs are like our family members. Have a lovely Monday!
