Our Reunion Dinner For Year 2017.

I praise God for the rainy season and cool weather. For the past years, Chinese New Year season has been hot and stuffy and I will be sweating profusely as I prepared and cooked the meals for my family. But this year is very different. I didn't even need to use the small table fan in my kitchen. The cool weather makes my cooking so much easier.
The eve of Chinese New Year 2017 was on Friday, the day we all celebrated the reunion dinner as a family. On that day, for lunch I cooked this Jicama dish (Sengkuang or Yam bean dish) as filling for the Top Hats or Pie Tee shells. It is a very simple version. I only used shredded jicama, shredded carrot, minced meat and diced prawns and some garlic for cooking.
Place the Top Hats or Pie Tee shells on a plate. Use a spoon to scoop the filling into the shells.
This Pie Tee snacks plus all the other CNY snacks will be our lunch until our reunion dinner which will be about 6.30 pm
At about 3.00 pm, we stopped at Restoran Rainbow in Menglembu to buy a set of Chinese New Year salad dish @ MYR 68. This is a must because everyone including me loves this salad dish.
Then we went to collect the Braised Stuffed Chickens that we have ordered from Pete Corner with this casserole.

Our family's reunion dinner begins.
This is before adding the peanuts, sesame seeds and sauce.
The colourful combination consist of Salmon slices, 2 halves of lime to squeeze onto the fish slices, shredded vegetables (daikon, carrots, red capsicum, turnip, red pickled ginger, pomelo, lime leaves, Chinese parsley, etc.), jelly fish, chopped toasted peanuts, toasted sesame seeds, crunchy crackers, 5 spices powder and sweet tangy plum sauce.
After topping the salad with the chopped peanuts, sesame seeds and crunchy crackers and plum sauce, it is time to stir the salad until well mixed. The above is my 1st portion of ready mixed salad.
This is the Braised Stuffed Chicken we ordered for our reunion dinner. We used a kitchen scissors to cut the chicken into smaller pieces. We couldn't finish this whole dish, the left over was kept for the next day's lunch.
Blanched Broccoli drizzled with garlic oil and oyster sauce.
And a Steamed Fish.
Here's our reunion dinner for 4 people for 2017.
Thank God for another brand new year!

Jehovah God is our light. I present to him my sacrifice upon the altar,
for you are my God, and I shall give you this thanks and this praise.
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for he is so good!
For his loving kindness is forever.
(Psalm 118:27-28, The Living Bible-TLB)

The following photos are for joining Saturday's Critters.
The photos were snapped at a Pets Fiesta about 5 months ago.
 This is a Sugar Glider.
It is very active. Not easy to take a snap shot of this Sugar Glider.
Just look at the big round eyes.
