Lat Exhibition at Ipoh Museum.

Together with a friend, we made to visit to the Ipoh Museum. It was a Friday and we waited till after lunch to visit the museum. I passed by the museum one day and saw that there is a Lat exhibition at the museum from March to July. I used to enjoy Lat's cartoons. The following are some of Lat's sketches.

The Hummingbird story. Sometimes, innocent childhood encounters leave behind indelible memories. Good advice and values imparted to us during our younger years can have the power to shape our characters. The Hummingbird story is such a story. It is a story about a ten year old boy, Mat, learning to work hard and to be wise and independent.
#3
Mat's encounters with the hummingbird changed the course of his life as a result of the meaningful lessons he acquired on financial discipline, and the foundation for success which is hard work.
#4
Set against the traditional village backdrop of early Malaysia in the sixties. Mat was taught at a young age by his mother that being able to break open coconuts demonstrated one's diligence and ability to be wise and independent.
#5
Mat's curiosity to find the link between success and hard work led him to reflect on what lay behind the success of his inspiring loved ones and grown-ups around him, including his father, his teacher Mrs Moira Hew, his grandmother who was a midwife, and the friendly retailer Uncle Raman. Were they all exceptionally adept at breaking open coconuts as well?
#6
Time after time, the core values and good habits that Mat has emulated have guided him to manage his finances prudently and prepared him to make responsible financial decisions.
#7
His re-encounter with the fascinating hummingbird at a most unexpected place decades later reminded him of the positive attributes that one should possess and that the desire for wealth accumulation should never be motivated by greed that would expose him to financial scams.

The Lord is my strength, my song, and my salvation.
He is my God, and I will praise him.
He is my father's God - I will exalt him.
