This was last Friday morning. It was a nice and dry morning so we can have our morning walk.
The rain has now shifted from morning to late afternoon or evening.
When there is no rain, the day will be hot and sweaty.
We stopped at a roadside stall to buy this economy fried vermicelli with spicy sambal for me and a packet of nasi lemak for hubby.
Next, we walked to our regular coffee shop for their signature coffee. We ordered a glass of iced coffee-C and a glass of Chinese tea to share.
For lunch, hubby bought 5 pieces of deep fried nian gao (glutinous sticky rice cake) from Bercham.
This is our favourite snack.
Look at the soft, gluey sticky glutinous rice sandwiched between the taro slice (top) and the orange colour sweet potato (bottom).
~~~~~
To avoid being caught in the evening rain, we reached Restaurant Wong Sheng early for dinner. Halfway through our dinner, it rained heavily. We took our time to enjoy our dinner and waited for a short while for the rain to stop before we got into the car.
One of our favourite dish to order:
Deep fried tilapia with special appetizing spicy sauce - RM32.
Another of our favourite:
Deep fried lotus root slices, baby French beans and carrot coated with salted egg yolk paste - RM16.
We came to know of this new dish: Flavourful braised pork leg - RM50.
Total cost of dinner for 4 people = RM104.
(inclusive of 4 rice, small portion and hot water)
This snapshot was taken in 2015.
It was painted on the side wall of a corner shop lot.
This mural shows the multi racial and rich variety of lifestyles in this nation.
Linking to Monday Mural.
With respect to your former lifestyle,
you are to lay aside the old self corrupted by its deceitful desires,
be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
and put on the new self - created to be like God
in true righteousness and holiness.
(Ephesians 4:22-24, Tree of Life Version-TLV)
I love the deep fried tilapia.
You eat that with a fork? Looks yummy. As the coffee! Hmmm, and the snack! All the food and, mind you, if warm I´d jump right into the rain :-)
Wonderful mural, wish here it would be like that, too, side by side.
Yes, they provide disposable fork. When I was young, I love to walk in the rain without an umbrella.
DeletePrice for dinner is good for 4 pax, only about rm25 per pax. The iced coffee-C looks so refreshing and thirst quenching. I love to eat deep fried nian gao. That day I ate two at one go. How many did u eat at one go?
ReplyDeleteI ate 2 at one go because I didn't take lunch.
Delete4 persons RM104 is all right, tilapia looks good. I think I know that style of cooking pork leg, can't remember where I had it like that, a little sweet, right? Very nice too!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the few places charging reasonable price for their food. Yes, the pork leg has a slightly sweet taste.
DeleteFood looks so good. I love every single dish and those fried nian gao are bomb. I miss them.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angie. With the fried nian gao easily available, I don't have to fry them at home. After all, we can only eat one or two pieces at a time.
