Chicken Rice, Stuffed Fish With Plain Rice Porridge

This was one Friday morning. Another warm and humid day.

Dawn at 6:50am.
Lovely golden sunrise at 7:10am.
7:15am - facing Kledang Hill (west).
Going south - 7:16am
7:20am
Kledang Hill.
7:30am
~~~~~
Thought of chicken rice so hubby went out to buy 2 packets.
Chicken rice with char siew (bbq pork).
Hubby requested for the plain white rice.
This round we have lots of self propagated cockscomb plants in our front garden and they are all flowering.
Simple dinner with plain rice porridge, canned braised peanuts, pickled lettuce, and stuffed fish.
My neighbour bought 2 stuffed fish for us when she went out to buy lunch. I cut off the heads and tails from the fishes to fit into the metal plate. To heat up for dinner, I steamed the fishes covered.
If you will only listen and obey the commandments of the Lord
your God that I am giving you today,
he will make you the head and not the tail,
and you shall always have the upper hand.
But each of these blessings depends on your not turning aside
in any way from the laws I have given you;
and you must never worship other gods.
Steamed Buns, Chicken Rice & Vegetables Salad
This was on a Thursday, a week before the Lunar New Year celebration. On this particular morning, we decided to walk around the area in front of our house. We will pass through the row of shops, the food court and some residential houses. After walking a few rounds, and on the last round, we stopped at Restoran Zui Le Xuan Dim Sum to buy breakfast before we walked home.
We were not the first customers but we needn't have to wait long to buy whatever we want. Dine-in was not allowed then.
I took this sunrise shot in front of my house before I entered the front gate.
I bought 2 baked bbq buns (char siew pau) and 2 steamed pork buns (nam yue pau). Upon reaching home, I boiled water to make 2 mugs of hot coffee.
Delicious baked bbq bun or char siew pau.
Steamed pork bun or nam yue pau (pork belly with fermented red bean curd).
Lunch
We were at the shops to buy some grocery and we went to our regular coffee shop to buy takeaway chicken rice for lunch.
Chicken and roast pork rice with scrambled egg with tomato for sharing.
Cucumber and long beans with roasted sesame dressing for sharing.
Only the person involved can know his own bitterness or joy -
no one else can really share it.
Chicken Rice For Lunch & Home Cooked Dinner
The days are getting warmer and we need the air-con to be able to sleep. We woke up before 6 am and were out of our house by 6:20 am.
Just before we started, I looked up the sky and I took a snapshot of the moon partially hidden behind the clouds.Back home in my garden, I took some snapshots of my plants before I started to water my plants.Gardenia budHarvested another fig from my Purple Jordan fig. Better not wait till too ripe.Enjoyed the freshly plucked fig all by myself. No sharing because hubby doesn't like figs.
Lunch with friends at Kedai Minuman Villa.
A friend recommended this chicken rice stall, well known for its poached "woo soh kai" or bearded/kampung chicken and blended ginger condiment.
Our friend ordered half a poached "woo soh kai".Blended ginger condiment. We requested for an extra plate.
He also ordered a few side dishes such as the above fried lemon/turmeric marinaded meat.Bitter gourd.Blanched green veggie.Clear soup served individually.
I had a home grown bitter gourd in my fridge. I bought some tofu and long beans, minced pork and fish paste from the nearby shops to make stuffed bitter gourd, tofu and long beans .After putting aside some for my friend and neighbour, I still have the above.Leftover curry from the previous day's dinner. These were our dinner without rice.
Because of the weakness of your human nature,
I am using the illustration of slavery to help you understand all this.
Previously, you let yourselves be slaves to impurity and lawlessness,
which led ever deeper into sin.
Now you must give yourselves to be slaves
to righteous living so that you will become holy.
Beef Soup & Chicken Rice
The last time we had beef noodle in Bercham was before the MCO. Now that the MCO is more relaxed, this is our first beef noodle breakfast at the same place. As required, we scanned the QR code before finding a table for ourselves.
We ordered 1 bowl of beef soup with noodle and 3 bowls of beef soup without noodles. We requested for extra coriander leaves.
Take away lunch
A friend recommended this chicken rice stall at Restoran Number One Mei Sik Wan, Kampar road, Ipoh.
I got down to order 2 packets of chicken rice while hubby waited in the car.
1 packet braised chicken rice with bbq pork.
1 packet braised chicken rice with roast pork.
I forgot to specify so ended up with braised chicken breast meat.
Setting sun hidden behind dark clouds.
Since we missed the early morning walk, we went out for evening walk. We stopped at our regular coffee shop for Indian bread (chapati & dosai) and curry dinner.
So I say, walk by the Spirit,
and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit,
and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh.
They are in conflict with each other,
so that you are not to do whatever you want.
Making 2nd Batch Pineapple Jam.
Saturday, 88th day MCO
We didn't walk in the park because we woke up a bit late. We only walked to the nearby shops behind our house, stopped to buy hubby's breakfast and then walked back home.
On the way home I stopped to snap the above picture of pigeons on the power cable.
~~~~~
Breakfast
Fried glutinous rice for hubby.
And some pig's skin and long bean curry which was eaten with the glutinous rice.
I ate home made oat porridge with dried cranberry and walnut pieces.
Our breakfast with a pot of Sabah tea.
~~~~
Making 2nd batch of pineapple jam.
My friend, neighbour and I enjoyed my pineapple jam. Since we have all finished the pineapple jam from the 1st batch, it is time for the 2nd batch.
This time, I used 2 pineapples.
Place the pineapple pieces in the chopper or blender.
Poured all the roughly blended pineapple into a pot and boiled it over low fire about 30 minutes. Then add in cane sugar or brown sugar. I don't have cane sugar so I used brown sugar. (The sweetness according to the your taste). Followed by lemon juice from 3 to 4 lemons. I used juice from 1 lemon and a few limes (all that I had in the fridge).
Remember to stir every now and then. Simmer over low fire until the jam thickened to preferred consistency. Add sugar if needed. Let the jam cool completely before storing in containers.
From 2 pineapples, I get 5 small tubs of jam. The above 3 tubs will be given to friends and I have 2 tubs in the fridge for ourselves.
This is our first time tasting the chicken rice from our regular coffee shop. A plate of sesame bbq chicken and rice to share with hubby. We chose to dine-in at the coffee shop.
We had Chinese Century Pears for mid afternoon snack.
~~~~~
Home cooked dinner
I boiled soup with daikon, carrot, red dates, goji berries and pig's shoulder bones.
Snake beans, red okras, prawns cooked with spicy sambal paste.
Steamed Chinese white pomfret (tau tai chong fish) with ginger.
Garnished with home grown spring onions and drizzled with garlic oil, oyster and soy sauce.
Satisfying dinner for 2 people.
Hubby had steamed rice while I go without rice.

Without wise leadership, a nation is in trouble;
but with good counselors there is safety.
