Edibles Growing In My Garden

These days, I have not been out for foodie hunt so today, I will share about the edibles growing in my garden.

Bitter Lettuce.
I got the seeds from a friend.
From the first sowing of seeds, only 2 seedlings sprouted successfully.
I thought the success rate was low, so I sowed all the remaining seeds and these sprouted. These are now grown in the veggie patch in front of my house next to my neighbour's.
Corn plants in the front veggie patch.
I have 4 yam beans growing in black plastic bags in the front garden. Hope there is something for me to harvest in the near future.
Skinny cauliflower plants.
Green brinjals.
Chili plants are still fruiting.
Snake long beans seedlings newly transferred to these big pots.

We found the following mural during our short trip to Penang in 2022.
Children flying kites.
This mural was painted on the side wall of a corner shop.

Chili Seedlings & Bottle Gourds

We have another 2 weeks to the Chinese New Year celebration. Somehow, I have managed to convince my lazy self to start off some of the spring cleaning. I am taking my own sweet time to do bit by bit, spacing out the work so as not to tired out myself too much.

Sunrise at 6:40am.
6:45am
This morning I harvested 2 green brinjals / aubergine / eggplants and some chilies from my garden.
A chili seedling has sprouted out from some of the seeds that I have disposed off in the flower pot.
In another pot, there are 3 more chili seedlings which look healthy.
I also harvested 2 bottle gourds from my garden. I think there are 3 to 4 small bottle gourds on the vines. I will wait for these baby gourds to grow big for harvesting before I cut down the vines.
Evening sky at 7:15pm.

to him who rides upon the ancient heavens,
whose mighty voice thunders from the sky.

Odd Shape Chili From My Garden

Woke up one morning without rain or even a slight drizzle. We were able to resume our early morning walk at the park.
Morning sky at the park - 6:40 am
Nice sky and reflection in the water.

For breakfast, we drove out to Ipoh town. We had breakfast at Kedai Kopi Yee Fatt, Jalan Kampar which is well known for its curry noodles.
We ordered Kopi O Kosong (black coffee without sugar).
This time, instead of my usual curry noodle (dry version), I ordered this curry noodle (soup version) for a change. This is just as good as the dry version.
Our breakfast.
Back home, I harvested this odd shape green chili from my garden.
This is my first time coming across such odd shape chili.

That evening we had home cooked dinner.
 Pan fried soya sauce prawns
Steamed white brinjals and topped with garlic and shallot crisps and scallop sauce.
Simple and satisfying dinner for 2 people.

Just as Death and Destruction are never satisfied,
so human desire is never satisfied.

A Time To Plant & A Time To Harvest

Today is Friday and here are some sunrise shots to link to Skywatch Friday and Friday Bliss.

Back home, the following were harvested from my garden.
As the white bitter gourd vines grow older, the fruits are getting smaller. Will be uprooting the vines soon to prepare for the next planting of new edibles.
Even the angled luffas are now getting smaller in size. I also harvested some snake beans and chilies. There is also a dried angled luffa.
This eggplant/brinjal is a mixture of purple and white. Probably due to cross pollination because there are white and purple brinjal plants growing side by side.
I kept the dried angled luffa for these seeds for sowing new plants.
Stewed duck with white bitter gourd, very flavourful.
Angled luffa with dried prawns and garlic.
Hubby requested for noodle. No noodle for me because I wanted to finish off both the dishes without leaving any leftover.
A view of my little garden after both the white bitter gourd and angled luffa vines have been cleared. Now the plants growing in pots will be getting more sunlight. Currently, hubby is helping me to put up more overhead lines in preparation for the next planting season.

A Time For Everything
For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.

Simple Yet Satisfying Dinner

The first thing I usually do upon reaching home after morning walk and breakfast is to sweep my porch area.
There was one morning when I noticed this ant which I have never seen before.
It was moving very slowly and I managed to take a few snapshots of it. I lightly swept it into the dust pan and drop it onto the grass by the road side.
Hubby's customer gave him some green mangoes, which I made into pickles.
I added a few crushed dried bird's eye chilies into the pickles.
Sharing some of my pet Betta fishes.
I no longer place plant cuttings in the fish bowls to make space for the fishes to swim in.
That morning's harvest from my garden.
Red, green okras and non spicy red chilies.
I had some left over fish head curry brought back from the restaurant which hubby and I couldn't finish. All I have to do was add in the okras and chilies harvested from my garden.
I added a small plate of deep fried tiny dried anchovies to the curry dish to make a simple yet satisfying dinner for 2 people.

But most of all, dear brothers,
do not swear either by heaven or earth or anything else;
just say a simple yes or no so that
you will not sin and be condemned for it.
