Home Cooked Steamed Prawns & Fried Clams For Dinner

The weather is getting warmer now. That means we will be sweating and the air conditioner will be on for most of the nights. We still have intermittent rain and occasional thunderstorm.

On this particular morning, we started our morning walk at about 7:05am.
Returning from our morning walk at about 7:45am.
~~~~~
Dinner at our friend's house for 4 people.
She bought some fresh prawns and clams (lala).
Steamed prawns.
Stir fried clams (lala) with sour lime sauce, ginger, garlic, and basil leaves.
She knows my hubby doesn't like the smell of basil leaves, so she separately stir fried a plate of clams without the basil leaves for hubby.
I contributed this pot of stewed pork rib with blanched broccoli.
This was our early dinner ( and some of us took a bit of rice to go with the above dishes. After dinner, we watched TV and chit chatted and then it was time for supper. We then drove to the Perak Stadium food stalls looking for Chinese rojak.
Our friend ordered this plate of fruit rojak for sharing.
She also ordered the above crispy flour crackers, drizzled with rojak sauce and crushed peanuts. It comes in a set of 3 pieces.
I ordered this plate of blanched paku pakis (salad style).
This wasn't as nice and tender as before.
As you can see the thick fibrous stalks was very obvious.
For drink, we order this bean curd sheet boiled with barley.
The above items were displayed at the Antong Coffee Mill mini museum. The enamel items consisting of tiffin (food) carrier, a pot and 2 mugs.
But you have received the Holy Spirit,
and he lives within you, in your hearts,
so that you don't need anyone to teach you what is right.
For he teaches you all things, and he is the Truth, and no liar;
and so, just as he has said, you must live in Christ,
never to depart from him.
Steamed Black Pomfret & Sauteed Cabbage For Dinner
 This was a Tuesday. A nice and cool lovely morning.
Starting our morning walk at 6:59am.
~~~~~
Breakfast in town at Restoran Tet Shin, Ipoh.
We ordered a plate of mee jawa to share. I request for extra sambal.
Next, I ordered some fried ingredients from the Hakka mee stall.
Peace Lily from my garden.
Afternoon sky at 1:08pm, expecting rain any time soon.
~~~~~
Lunch in Falim.
I ordered deep fried prawn fritters and enoki fritters and 2 prawn dumplings for us to share.
Plus 1 bowl of porridge for hubby.
~~~~~
Home cooked dinner.
I bought 4 very fresh black pomfret and I took out 2 to thaw. I wanted to imitate the steamed fish we had in Chemor which I posted here. I don't tilapia so I used black pomfret. This is my first time using black pomfret for steaming.
I rub a little salt over the fish. For the topping, I used chopped garlic and chopped pickled white radish (choy poh in Cantonese). I fried the chopped garlic and choy poh in a little oil, add a little sugar and oyster sauce. Remove from pan and place over the fish and steam for 8 to 10 minutes. My steamed fish lacked colour because I do not have chopped spring onion and chopped chilies. The steamed fish tasted almost like the one we had in Chemor.
Sauteed cabbage with garlic and salt.
This was our dinner with some steamed rice on a rainy evening.

In bygone days he permitted the nations to go their own ways,
but he never left himself without a witness;
there were always his reminders - the kind things he did
such as sending you rain and good crops
and giving you food and gladness.

Mother's Day Celebration

This is a late post because Mother's Day was celebrated on Sunday, the 12th May. My friend and I celebrated our Mother's Day a day earlier, i.e. Saturday 11th May. Together with our spouse, we had breakfast (nothing special) and agreed to meet up for a light lunch.
 We went to Kafe Diamond Kopitiam in Menglembu for cold desserts. From top left: blended red bean ice, mango jelly ice, and 2 bowls of ice kacang.
 My friend ordered this mango jelly with dried sour plum as topping.
 2 bowls of ice kacang with ice cream.
 My friend's hubby chose the one with the strawberry ice cream and I had the chocolate ice cream. My hubby ordered the blended red bean ice.
 Crunchy deep fried flour fritters with rojak sauce and ground peanuts.
 On the way home, we bought the above "neen koh" or deep fried glutinous rice. The dessert and "neen koh" were our lunch.
 Evening sky at 7:20 pm.
Younger son came back for Mother's Day, elder son couldn't make it.
 We had dinner with younger son at Restaurant Wong Sheng in Desa Rishah.
 Stir fried lettuce with garlic and fermented tofu (fu yee)
 Deep fried prawns in batter with salad dressing.
 Steamed Tilapia with soy sauce. Younger son likes it plain.
 Extra tables were placed outside and temporary tents were put up to cater to the crowd celebrating Mother's Day.

But you, dear friends, must build up your lives ever more strongly
upon the foundation of our holy faith,
learning to pray in the power and strength of the Holy Spirit.
