Dinner At Fung Sheng Steamboat, Bercham, Ipoh

Yesterday afternoon (Friday) while I was having lunch with my sister and friend, a Whatsapp message came through and the message was "I have booked 4 places for steamboat for tonight." It was because we as senior citizens (60 years and above) can enjoy special price at RM25.90 per person. For those 13 - 59 years, the rate is RM59.90. So yesterday evening, we were here at Fung Sheng Steamboat which our friend came to know through Facebook.

Our friend booked a table for 4, indoor with air-con.
Upon arrival, we requested to change our table to the outdoor with fresh air.
Fortunately, there was a table that was not reserved yet, just next to this little garden.
To get the food that we want, we have to walk a short distance to the indoor with air-con.
This is where we get the plates or bowls to hold whatever we picked for the steamboat, grill or bbq. Just take a walk around here to check out the food which are displayed on your left and right. The following are some of the food items available.
Some of the seafood available.
Meat on skewers.
Shelled prawns on skewers.
For the steamboat or hot pot, we can choose 2 out of 6 soups available. We picked pork bones and tom yam. The other 4 soups are tomato, cheese, and etc. (I can't remember the other 2 soups).
We started with crabs, prawns and fresh mushrooms in the steamboat.
Nice big and fresh prawns.
Both the soups we picked were tasty. Every now and then, they will come to top up on the soups.
Then we had cuttlefish and scallop, After 2 rounds of food from the steamboat, we moved on to grilled food.
To start off, we picked some meat and shelled prawns on skewers.
Grilling in action.
We tried different types of meat, chicken wings, prawns and crabs. At 8:30pm, we were informed that we can try our luck at catching live prawns and crabs with locking tongs. Only limited number of prawns and crabs were let loose into the water trough. Not easy to see because the trough was dark and the bright lights shining up from the bottom of the trough is glaring to the eyes. I went with our friend. Hooray, our friend managed to catch 3 crabs and 1 big prawn.
We can use this oiled paper on a metal tray to grill our food. When the paper gets black, one of the staff will come to change a new one for us.
The chicken wings were well marinated and very tasty.
We need to watch the chicken wings because it gets charred easily.
While waiting for the crabs to cook on the grill, we had our jelly dessert and fruits.
This was the last item we ate. By then we were all very full.
The cost of dinner came to RM113.95 for 4 people including 10% service tax.
On our way out, I saw this painting on the wall.
This place is worth going again because the food is fresh and the service is good.
I used to share about the big grasshoppers seen in my garden. One day when it started to munch on the edibles instead on just on the leaves, I decided to move the grasshopper to a shrub away from my house.
Since then, it has not appeared in my garden again. I hope it likes it new home.

but only the Lord can give them understanding wives.

Dinner At Restoran Stimbot & BBQ (Gourmet Legend Enterprise)

I can't remember when we last had a steamboat dinner. It could have been more than a year. Last Friday (150th day MCO), our friend suggested that we go for steamboat dinner instead of the usual rice & dishes type of dinner. Here are some of the snapshots I took while waiting for the food to be cooked. Once we started eating, no one has the time to take photos.

This is a steamboat buffet dinner. For seniors, we were charged RM 29.80 per pax. To avoid disappointment, call ahead to make reservation. Tel.no: 011-1154 9789.

Besides cooking your own food, you can also order food from the kitchen. You can choose from the Japanese food menu or the Western food menu. Just tick on the chits provided on your table and hand them over to the server.

Farewell Lunch At Restaurant Pusing Public, Ipoh

We have been looking forward to this farewell lunch because one of our friends had retired. It could also be called a welcome lunch as half of us present are retirees. In a way, we are also welcoming another member into our pensioners' club or retirees' club! We waited for everyone to be available and the lunch was finally held last Friday in Restaurant Pusing Public in Ipoh new town.
That Friday started with a lovely sunrise - 6:50 am.
7:00 am
Sunrise reflected on the pond.
Hubby and I shared this plate of fried flat rice noodle (char koay teow). I only took a few mouthfuls because of the farewell/welcome lunch.
While I was watering the plants in my garden, I noticed this ginger flower.

Those of us who are retirees reached the restaurant early.
Someone brought some fruits for us to enjoy while waiting for the others.
The above is what is left from a full plate of fried crackers served by the restaurants.
First dish served - Ice or crystal vegetables salad as appetizers.
Deep fried cod fish.
Free range chicken steamed with blended ginger sauce.
Taro or yam cooked with kai lan vegetable.
Deep fried pork knuckle
There is no photo of the mantou (plain bun) accompanying the pork knuckle.
The pork knuckle and steamed bun (mantou) can be eaten with this sauce.
Steamed stuffed tofu with fish paste.
We had a great time enjoying the dishes and exchanging updates with one another around the table.
From these empty plates, you can see that we ladies have good appetite.
Took some snapshots of the early birds while waiting for the others.
One more for the album for the year 2019.
Looking forward to the next meet up to celebrate the new year 2020.

After lunch, some of us went for a walk at one of  the shopping mall. We need to walk off some calories because we had a dinner date in the evening. We wanted something light and decided on a hot pot dinner to enjoy the coconut chicken soup at Top Grade Hot Pot Restaurant at Festival Walk, Ipoh.
Free flow ice-cream potong.
Hubby took one and it was too frozen hard to bite.
He requested for the ice cream to be cut into smaller pieces.
The pot of hot soup brought to the table, placed on a stove and waited for it to boil. First, we enjoy the soup, the chicken and coconut flesh before requesting for more soup to be added.
These are some add on: 2 types of green vegetables, tofu, taro or yam and rice vermicelli.
These should be enough for 6 people since we only wanted a light dinner.
I love this very tasty coconut chicken soup base.
Our dinner for 6 people costs us about about RM 123.

For Christ didn't send me to baptize, but to preach the Gospel;
and even my preaching sounds poor,
for I do not fill my sermons with profound words
and high-sounding ideas, for fear of diluting the mighty power
there is in the simple message of the cross of Christ.
