Delicious Dinner At Kopitiam 1 Curve.

The reason we come to this place quite often is that the food served here is tasty and the price is very reasonable. Whenever we are at Kopitiam 1 Curve, we try to order something new so we can get to try new dishes. For 4 people, we ordered the following dishes.

Deep fried Nam Yee chicken wings - our favourite!

Chicken wings marinated with the red colour fermented bean curd.

Fish Head Curry in clay pot - small portion.

Hong Kong Baby Kai Lan stir fried with pork slices and prawns.

The cost of dinner for 4 people does not exceed RM 50.00

(including 4 small portion white rice and Chinese tea)

I was trying to capture the water droplets clinging to the leaves of my Bauhinia plant. It turned out blur but instead my opposite neighbour's fence looks clear in this picture.

Wild Cherries Or Muntingia Calabura In The Park

Today's post is about a wild cherry plant that is found in the recreational park where we go for our early morning walk. This plant must have been planted there in the park by one of the regular men who frequent this park because I used to see a man diligently watering this plant early in the morning while we were there. From a small plant, it has now grown to a big tree.

Some of the common names for this wild cherry or Muntingia Calabura plant are Calabur Tree, Jamaica Cherry and Strawberry Tree. Propagation of this plant can be done from seeds or cuttings. It is also dispersed by birds.

 I was curious and one morning after I have finished my walking rounds, I walked over to this tree and took some photos. This photo was taken when the tree was about 6 feet tall.

Here is a close up of the leaves and the flowers. The flower petals are thin and white. It has yellow stamens. The leaves are covered with fine short hairs.

The tree has grown taller and bigger. Lately, I noticed some women under the tree, looking up and searching for the wild cherries. The ripe cherries are red in colour. Whatever cherries found higher up on the trees are for birds and the cherries found lower within reach are collected by humans.

The plant is known for its medicinal benefits. The cherries can be used for making jam and the leaves can be used for making tea. So far I have not tried tasting any of them.

In order to keep the height in check, I have to occasionally trim back the branches.

These plants enjoy full sunlight.

Noodles, Snack, Coffee & Gifts.

On one particular day, we had breakfast in Restoran Tet Shin. We like and enjoy the Mee Jawa very much and that morning, hubby as usual ordered Mee Jawa.

 Mee Jawa @ RM 5.00. Hubby likes the crispy fried prawns.

  I am more adventurous and I like to try new stalls so I ordered this Pan Mee.

 After breakfast, we stopped at the Ipoh central market to buy some coffee powder.

For lunch, I made unsweetened black coffee for hubby and myself.

 One day earlier, hubby bought this durian flavour biscuits or "heong piah" from Gunung Rapat and we ate the biscuits with black coffee for lunch.

 That day, we were blessed with these fresh fruits. Some were from my sister-in-law and some from my friend. 

 A special thanks to this friend who brought this mug all the way from her holidays as a gift for hubby. I "opened ceremony" and used this mug to make iced milo for hubby! I love the verses printed on the on the mug.
