Pig Stomach Noodle, Fried Bacon, Pickled Veg & Rice Porridge

It was drizzling when we woke up on a Sunday morning. After the drizzling stopped, we walked out to our regular coffee shop for breakfast.

We shared this bowl of pig stomach soup with noodle.

Ingredients consist of rice vermicelli, pieces of pig stomach, daikon, a pair of chicken feet, and hot peppery soup. This soup is only available on Sunday.

We ordered 6 pieces of deep fried items from another stall. That morning we had unsweetened coffee (kopi C kosong).

I have not restocked the food supply yet because I wanted to clear whatever foodstuff I can find in the fridge or pantry. I found 2 items which will be good to go with rice porridge for dinner.

Remaining home made pickled mustard green to cook with minced pork and chili.

Both were big portions, more than enough for 2 meals.

Simple home cooked dinner for 2 people.

Chee Cheong Fun & Claypot Chicken Rice With Sour Mustard Green

After I have cleared the stock from the freezer, I wanted to rest from cooking until I have the mood to cook. I will be showing what we ate for 2 dinners. First dinner, hubby went out to the night market to buy 2 packets of steamed rice noodle rolls (chee cheong fun). 2nd dinner, we dined in at the clay pot chicken rice shop.

1st dinner (take away).

2 packets of steamed rice noodle rolls (chee cheong fun) with lots of dried shrimp and sprinkled with onion crisps.

Here is a closer look of the noodle. The curry was packed separately.

Simple and satisfying dinner.

My Purple Jordan fig trees are fruiting again.

To prevent the birds from feasting on my figs, I will be wrapping the figs with plastic bags. I punched holes in the plastic for ventilation.

Hubby and I shared this pot of chicken rice (small portion).

(Ingredients: rice, chicken, Chinese sausage & a small piece of salted fish).

A plate of sour mustard green, an appetizing dish.

Old antique kerosene lamp.

My father-in-law used to have a kerosene lamp just like the one on the left.

Stewed Pork Leg Noodle & Meatballs Noodle With Wine

One morning about 2 weeks ago, we went to Restoran Kee Tuck Seak in Taman Pertama for breakfast because our regular coffee shop was closed for 2 days rest. Hubby's ordered his favourite i.e. wat tan hor or flat rice noodle with egg gravy.

As for me, I ordered the above pork leg stewed with daikon. Love this flavourful and tasty noodle served with hot peppery plain clear soup.

This noodle is worth returning for.

We stopped at one roadside stall selling chicken and duck eggs to buy this vegetarian bean curd sheet roll or vegetarian ham (chat thai in Cantonese). It has a softer texture than those bought from vegetarian shop. We eat it as a snack.

Simple home cooked dinner.

I cooked soup with meatballs, cloud ear fungus, ginger strips, eggs and glutinous rice wine.

I cooked dried noodle for hubby and mee sua for myself.

I also blanched some home grown Brazilian spinach.

We each had a bowl of noodle loaded with lots of ingredients and we ate our noodle with the blanched Brazilian spinach.

Orangey yellow single layer petals hibiscus from my garden.

Lately, I noticed that the buds of the same hibiscus plant will drop off before they bloom. I googled and read that one of the reasons could be due to pest.

So sad to see these buds dropping off without blooming.

Even a tree has more hope!

If it is cut down, it will sprout again and grow new branches.

Though its roots have grown old in the earth

and its stump decays, at the scent of water

it will bud and sprout again like a new seedling.
