Appetizing Assam Laksa @ Kedai Makan Laksa Kee Poh, Gunung Rapat

One day, hubby came home and shared with me that his friend mentioned about a new Assam Laksa shop in Gunung Rapat. Actually this Assam Laksa business is not new but has shifted from its old shop to a new one. I have not tasted this Assam Laksa before even though I have heard my ex-colleague mentioned about it.

So last Friday, hubby told me that he is going to take me for a very appetizing lunch. He drove all the way to Gunung Rapat from Ipoh, driving on Jalan Raja Dr. Nazrin Shah. As we cross over the Sungai Pinji (Pinji River), on the left is the big MacDonald's signboard. Here, we turned left from the main road and then took the right lane (away from MacDonald's, and the HSBC Bank on our right). Then we went straight ahead until just before the market, we saw Kedai Makan Laksa Kee Poh on our right.

Another route:- Instead of turning left at MacDonald's, we can go further up and turn left at the traffic light (in front of Megoplex) and then go straight. Turn left into the lane between Restoran Gunung Rapat Tong Fong (left) and the market (right). Laksa Kee Poh is on the left of the row of shops behind Restoran G.R. Tong Fong. This lane is only open to traffic after 12.00 pm. It is closed from 6.30 am to 12.00 pm.
This was my appetizing Assam Laksa with a spoonful of prawn paste.

Now you can see the white rice noodle after mixing it. Hubby commented that this is better than Falim's laksa. For me, we can come here for laksa on weekdays and on Sundays, we can go to Falim which is so much nearer for us.

2 glasses of herbal drink highly recommended by the elderly aunty.

If the laksa alone is not enough, we can add-on these ingredients.

A team of helpers.

Everything looks neat and clean.

The shop is new and a nice comfortable place to enjoy our meal.

Prices of food in Chinese. Laksa big bowl MYR 4.20 (1.16 USD),
small bowl MYR 3.50 (0.97 USD),
additional ingredients MYR 0.80 (0.22 USD) per piece.
Address: Lorong Gunung Rapat 5, facing junction with Persiaran Gunung Rapat 2.

This is what the LORD says:
"Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls.
(Jeremiah 6:16, New International Version-NIV)

  1. Eating in restaurant is so very expensive here in Canada. We only go once a week for breakfast after church with our regular group of friends and it usually cost about $20.00 Can for the two of us. The prices looks very cheap in Malaysia . I wish it was cheaper here.

    The food looks appetizing.
