Taiwan Lantern Festival (Part 1) At Jenjarom, Selangor.

The highlight of our one day trip was the Taiwan Lantern Festival. After an early dinner at Restoran Asam Batu Laut, we went on a 50 minutes drive to Jenjarom. We reached our destination at about 7.10 pm and the van stopped for us to alight in front of Fo Guang Shan Dong Zen temple. Before we alighted from the van, we were told that the van will pick us up at 8 pm. We still have to travel back to Ipoh.

I had no idea that the lantern festival is being held on the temple ground. I actually thought it was a small lantern festival held on one of the small town roads. That shows that I didn't do my homework before the trip.

Our organizers informed us to quickly check out the orchids display while there is still light. We broke up into smaller groups to make it easier to move around and watch out for one another.
These are live orchids on display.
 An uncommon orchid specie.
 White with purple speckles.
White and orange orchids
 Orchids of various colours.
 Luffa hanging from the wine.
Take a seat to rest your tired feet.
 Classic Chinese opera masks

A snapshot taken from the other end at 7.25 pm.
We could easily lose each other in this crowd.

 Everyone wants to take pictures.
Lighted lanterns and lights hanging overhead.
 Kampung house on stilts.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the colourful lights.

This is beautiful.

The cherry blossoms looked so real but on closer look, they are artificial flowers tied to the trees.
Do come back for more photos in tomorrow's post.

  10. Wow! This post is gorgeous!!! My favorites are all the night ones, the photos from each end, and the large group of flowers. You have really outdone yourself. This may be my favorite post of yours ever. Just look at how many abundant flowers are on these trees in the last picture. It must have taken so long and been so much work to tie the buds on!!

  12. Beautiful orchids. I have an orchid on the window sill similar to the one shown by you. Lanterns look beautiful in the day and in the evening they enjoy the lights. Regards.
