Lunch At Bao Bao Golden House Restaurant

This was a Tuesday and it was morning walk as usual.

Sunrise at 7:10am.

On the reverse side, facing Kledang Hill.
~~~~~
Hubby and I had lunch with a friend who dropped by for a half day's visit. We decided to try a place which we haven't been to because I felt like having porridge. We have been here once before, that was before they changed ownership or the name of the restaurant.
We ordered the seafood porridge consisting of prawns, fish slices, clams and squids. This image is from the menu and we were expecting the porridge to be like this when it was served.
Surprise! The porridge was served and it was nothing like the image in the menu. But it was alright because the porridge was very tasty. Our friend insisted on ordering 2 side dishes.
#1 Asparagus with prawns.
Bitter gourd with pork ribs.
This yummy-licious lunch was a treat from our friend.
Ixora in my front garden.
For dinner, I cooked bak kut teh or herbal pork rib with pig stomach. The herbs came in a packet which I bought from our nearby Chinese herbal shop. For dinner, it was only bak kut teh and steamed brown rice. Kept back half portion for the next day meal.
Linking to Skywatch Friday.
Work hard and cheerfully at all you do,
just as though you were working for the Lord
and not merely for your masters, remembering that
it is the Lord Christ who is going to pay you,
giving you your full portion of all he owns.
He is the one you are really working for.
Prawns With Asparagus & Watercress With Pork Rib Soup
This was last Monday. Time for our morning walk.
Morning sky at 7:07am.
Can you see the golden trimmings on the clouds?
Sunrise at 7:15am.
For breakfast, hubby bought roti telur.
For me, I had bread dipped into leftover fish curry.
Home cooked dinner.
I cooked the last portion of prawns with asparagus.
Watercress and carrot with pork rib soup.
Some antique ceramic tea pots for today's memes.
Pretty words may hide a wicked heart,
just as a pretty glaze covers a common clay pot.
Family And Friends Reunion
I thank God for watching over us and protecting us throughout the MCO and that we are now on the road to recovery from the pandemic. Thank God for all the unnamed, compassionate people who contributed in various ways during the MCO.
Yesterday's take-away dinner
 We had wonton noodle and minced pork dumplings for dinner
Yesterday I couldn't cook because there was a few hours of water supply disruption in our area.
Under the Recovery MCO (from 10th June to 31st August), travelling restriction within the nation has been lifted. We are looking forward to reunite with family members and friends whom we have not seen since the MCO started.
~~~~~
This was one of our pre-MCO lunch with friends in my house. The following 2 dishes were cooked by our friend.
 Chicken and potato curry.
Asparagus and prawns with sambal paste.
~~~~~
I cooked the following 2 dishes.
Stuffed Home Grown Bitter Gourd.
Home grown long beans, wolf berries and egg omelette.
Break of dawn at 6:47 am.
We have not been to the recreational park for our morning walk since the MCO started. Looking forward to resume our walk at the park one of these days.
Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth.
Sing praises to the Lord.
Sing to the one who rides across the ancient heavens,
his mighty voice thundering from the sky.
Dinner At Restoran Makanan Laut One Two Nine, Ipoh
On Thursday night, our initial plan was to have fish head curry for dinner in Menglembu, Ipoh. Halfway through our journey, we passed by a restaurant and I pointed out to my friend and asked whether she had tasted the food there. She replied yes and that the food there is good.
Since it was threatening to rain and for the past few days there were thunderstorms, we made a u-turn reverse back to this restaurant.
Since it was a weekday and 8 pm in this area is almost past the peak dinner hours, the restaurant was not packed with customers.
 We order a deep fried home made tofu with toppings of onions, deep fried dried shrimps and spring onions. The tofu is very smooth but the sauce is too salty.
 Steamed fish pieces with ginger paste.
The fish was steamed just right and very tasty.
 Asparagus stir fried with baby corn, carrots, capsicum, mushrooms, etc.
The above three dishes were our initial orders.
 Then we added the deep fried pork rib with sticky sauce.
There were 5 long pieces of pork ribs.
Well marinated and favourful but have to use our hands to eat.
My lady friend insisted on paying the bill for this dinner for 4 people.
After our dinner while we were still sipping the Chinese tea, we noticed some people crowding around the fish tanks at one corner of the restaurant.
I went and peered over their shoulders to check what the attraction was.
I saw someone holding something like a ball in his palm.
Then hubby went closer and snapped a photo of that ball.
What do you see?
I saw a weird looking face, looked like an alien!
Then one of the staff took a net to scoop out a fish swimming in the tank.
It was a slow moving fish.
This is the back portion of the weird looking fish.
The side view of the fish. This is no ordinary fish. This is the puffer fish.
The restaurant has 3 puffer fishes just for show or for attraction only.
These 2 balls are puffed up puffer fishes. The puffer fish puffs up with water or air when it is threatened. Puffer fish is claimed to be the world's 2nd most poisonous vertebrate. It is highly toxic when eaten and has no antidote. But the meat of some species is considered a delicacy in Japan, Korea and even China. The chefs have to be specially trained to know which part is safe to eat.
Don't let the sparkle and the smooth taste of strong wine deceive you,
For in the end it bites like a poisonous serpent;
it stings like an adder.
