Crab Glass Noodle, Tom Yam Soup & Thai Chicken Feet Salad

After morning walk, we stopped at one of our regular coffee shop for breakfast.

Our favourite shredded chicken noodle (kai si hor fun).
Can you see the bits of dried scallops used for boiling the soup?
While having breakfast, 4 Common Myna birds were playing or fighting on the road. They were making a lot of noise.
~~~~~
I had lunch with 2 sisters at
Different Taste, #72, Persiaran Bercham Selatan 2, Bercham.
My sister was looking forward to enjoy the above: Crab with glass noodle. The cook weighed a crab and informed us the price: RM99. So the above dish cost RM99 (approx. 22usd). I should have push the glass noodle aside to take a good snapshot of the size of the crab.
Next, we ordered Thai chicken feet salad @ RM16.
Grouper fish chunks in clear Tom Yam soup @ RM45.
Total cost of lunch: RM161.50. The lady boss waived the 50 cents.
Thanks to my sis for this delicious treat.
Aloe vera flower from my garden.
~~~~~
No home cooked dinner for us.
Hubby bought 20 skewers of chicken satay (grilled chicken on skewers) from a nearby kampung. The satay costs 0.70 cents per skewers.
The seller is generous with the peanut sauce. There is some leftover sauce which I kept in the fridge to dip with our home grown cucumbers.
Hubby bought some boiled compressed rice (nasi impit), The cucumber and onions are given free.
Dinner for 2 @ RM14 (approx 3usd)
Cockscomb flower from self-propagation. It was found sharing a pot with a yellow Croton plant in front of my house.

And these men of faith, though they trusted God and
won his approval, none of them received all
that God had promised them; for God wanted them to wait and
share the even better rewards that were prepared for us.

Order Online To Enjoy Fresh And Tasty Crabs In Your Home

Being a seafood lover, I look forward to seafood meals with my friends and family members. Whenever someone suggests a seafood lunch or dinner, I will never say no. Every now and then, we will drive to nearby coastal towns for a day trip. We will buy fresh and dried seafood products and enjoy a seafood lunch before driving back home. I am a big fan of seafood but my favourite is crabs. If the timing is right, we get to enjoy fresh meaty crabs. If not, we get crabs with more shells and water than meat.
When the movement control order was enforced to curb the spread of coronavirus, we have to stay home, had home cooked or takeaway food. Now that movement control is more relaxed, we are once again talking about visiting these coastal towns. For the time being, we are adopting a wait and see concerning the day trips because we are still receiving reports of virus affected cases.
As I type this post, images of the seafood dishes we ate in Singapore are still fresh in my mind. I don’t know where my nephew took us for dinner but I remember seeing a row of restaurants facing the sea. I was told that the big crabs we ordered were premium Sri Lankan wild crabs freshly flown in from Sri Lanka to Singapore. The crabs were big, meaty, and very tasty. They were the best and the tastiest crabs I have ever tasted.
I googled for Sri Lanka crabs in Singapore and my eyes fell on www.8Crabs.com’s Signature Sri Lankan Wild Catch Crabs. It says that 8 Crabs is Singapore’s Favourite Crab Delivery Service island-wide. They have their own processing premises in Sri Lanka and they are the only supplier of wild catch crabs in Singapore. 8 Crabs together with a group of chefs came into partnership in becoming the best crab delivery service in Singapore.
What are the advantages of 8 Crabs?
  • 8 Crabs is the only company in Singapore using grade AAA premium Sri Lankan sourced wild crabs. The crabs are graded by the most experienced crab graders in the trade.
  • Sri Lankan wild catch crabs are meatier, tastier, bigger, and less watery than framed crabs.

  • To ensure freshness, these crabs were caught, flown, prepared and delivered to their customers within 12 hours.

Dinner At Spice Pisa Cafe, Bayan Lepas, Penang

After having enough of the foodie experience, we finally got ourselves checked in at the hotel. Those who were tired rested in their room while the rest of us decided to walk off some calories before dinner.

A few places were suggested for dinner and finally. a friend directed us to Bayan Lepas for dinner. We didn't mind the distance, after all we were not hungry yet. At the Spice Pisa Cafe, Bayan Lepas., we were spoiled for choice. We first took a walk to look at all the stalls before we could decide what we want to eat.
 We ordered baked mud crabs at RM 60 per kg.
These 3 crabs weighed exactly a kg.
 A plate of oyster omelette
First we ordered 1 plate, then followed by another plate of roasted pork.
By the time I took this snapshot, half plate already gone!
Penang prawns noodles.
2 plates of ikan panggang or spicy bbq sting ray
 A plate of thin pancakes
 Muah chee or soft glutinous rice flour balls with peanut powder.
 This is a great place for those who love varieties and street food.
 And just across the road, there is this Lucky Eatery foodcourt.
 A night view of of the Jubilee Clock Tower taken from a moving car.
A close up of an antique Chinese ink brush set.
(found this treasure at the dessert shop at Lebuh Melayu, Penang)

This is what I have asked of God for you:
that you will be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love,
and that you will have the rich experience of knowing
Christ with real certainty and clear understanding.
For God's secret plan, now at last made known, is Christ himself.
In him lie hidden all the mighty,
untapped treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Spending The Whole Saturday With Friends

I received a call from a friend to inform that the meeting will be in Aeon Station 18, Ipoh. It was a nice Saturday morning and we were told to be there by 11 am. So by 10.30 am I was out of the house driving to Station 18. Someone came to pick us and took us to the Kedai Makan Ban Mee 101. The last time I ate here was in January this year - 11 months ago!
A bowl of "Loh Mee" for my brunch!
Didn't take photo of what my friends ate.
We ordered these crispy deep fried stuff bean curd sheet to share.
A glass of lemon ginger drink for me.
After brunch, someone decided to go all the way to Aeon Big in Falim!
The distance is about 9.5 km and that is supposed to be the shortest way.
My first snapshot of a Christmas tree in Aeon, Falim.
A white Christmas tree with gold decorations.
After walking around and looking at all the items on sale, we stopped here.
Another friend treated us to this very silky smooth ice cream.
It was a record breaking shopping day for me. Never in my life had I shopped for 8 hours! I had to find a place to rest my tired feet while my friends continue to shop. I really take my hat off to them. Not once did they mention about tired feet. Sigh, maybe it is because of my age!

By the time I reached home, I quickly took my bath and off we went to Bercham for our dinner date with another group of friends. A dinner gathering of 5 friends at Soo Har Yee restaurant. Some friends wanted to try the food here.
Steamed mixed seafood platter.
A must order dish if you are eating here.
Stir-fry yee meen (pre-fried noodle) for 2 people.
Instead of rice, we ordered noodles.
Stir fry vermicelli for 2 people.
Stir fry sambal belacan paku-pakis (local fern)
We ordered their signature Mud Crabs In Bread.
The server brought the bread to our table for us to take photo before she cut open the bread.
Mud crabs (2 crabs) in sweet sour sauce inside the bread.
My first helping on a small plate.
And a piece of fine cottony bread to eat with the sweet sour sauce.
Total cost of dinner came to MYR 248, shared by 5 friends.

It was a long day but a very eventful day indeed!
It is not always that we get to enjoy such an eventful day!

That is what the Scriptures mean when they say that
God made Abraham the father of many nations.
God will accept all people in every nation
who trust God as Abraham did.
And this promise is from God himself,
who makes the dead live again and speaks of future events
with as much certainty as though they were already past.

Lunch At Restoran Floating Seafood Paradise, Penang.

This is a continuation of yesterday's post. You can click here if you are interested. We were travelling from Ipoh to Penang for our church's family camp. We stopped for lunch at Simpang Ampat, Penang. Our friends wanted to introduce us to this place because they have tasted the delicious food on their first visit.
I think an active golden horse is a good symbol for business (my guess).
These steps lead us to the restaurant.
As we walked on the wooden floor, we could feel the gentle bobbing of the restaurant on the water.
Choices of fresh, live seafood.
Top left - Cockles. Top right - Tiger prawn.
Bottom left - Catfish. Bottom right - Grouper fish.
Razor Clams.
I was not at the table when the dishes were ordered. Time to get back to the table. I am looking forward to enjoy whatever delicious seafood dishes ordered for lunch. Lol!
Fragrance fresh coconut water for everyone.
4 coconuts @ MYR 20 (approx. 4.69 USD).
Wow! The first dish to arrive - my favourite seafood is Crab!
2 big mud crab @ MYR 66 (approx. 15.49 USD).
The wood is for cracking the hard shell of the crab pincers if needed.
To eat these crabs, we have to use our hands. Its fingers licking good!
Fried rice vermicelli @ MYR 10 (approx. 2.35 USD).
Steamed Lala clams with garlic, sour plum, chili, etc.
@ MYR 12 (approx. 2.82 USD)
I want to try making this dish at home. Yummy!
Oyster, egg omelette @ MYR 12 (approx. 2.82 USD).
Stingray fish + rice noodle (lai fun) in assam laksa gravy. Yums!

Total cost of lunch incl. 6 % GST - MYR 165.40 (38.32 USD)
If you are interested, here is the address, contact number and business hours.
We enjoyed the food very much and we hope to return whenever possible.
When I went to wash my hands, I noticed some fishing boats on the other side of the fence.
I could smell the sea water. Not much activity going on at that time.
More fishing boats - couldn't get a clearer view because the gate was closed and branches were covering the view.
A feeling of appreciation came over me for these fishermen - without them, there will not be any seafood to enjoy.
Oyster shells drying in the sun.

The following photos were taken at the Gopeng Museum.
 An old fashioned bedroom with all the old antique furnishings.
A wooden bed with 4 posts to hang the mosquito net to keep out the pesky mosquitoes. These wooden furniture from the old days were made of good quality wood.

Men of God in days of old were famous for their faith.
By faith - by believing God - we know that the world and the stars -
in fact, all things - were made at God's command;
and that they were all made from things that can't be seen.
