Lunch At V Nam Kitchen With Ex-Colleagues/Friends

This was the last Tuesday in November.

6:50am.
The sky was clear so we had our morning walk.
7:20am.
After morning walk, breakfast and some time spent in the garden, I need to get ready because a friend will be coming to pick me for our ex-colleagues/friends lunch gathering. We chose V-Nam Kitchen for our lunch.
A friend ordered Vietnamese coffee @ RM10.50 and it was served as the above. The hot coffee was allowed to drip into the glass on the left hand side. On the right side, the frozen coffee in the shaped of a bear and ice cubes in a glass.
The rest of us ordered iced lemon juice with natural honey @ RM12.50 each.
This is a rice set with chicken, egg, and pork @ RM19.50
I hope I got the 3 types of meat right.
Sugar cane prawns @ RM16.50
Beef balls noodle soup @ RM16.50
The above raw beansprouts and basil leaves are for the beef balls noodle soup.
Vege salad with jelly fish @ RM21.50
Vietnamese spring rolls @ RM8.50 per set.
We thought the spring rolls were the dainty size so we ordered 2 sets.
Total lunch came to RM152.90
The following are some of the decorations in V Nam Kitchen.

Reunion Dinner & Gathering Of New, Old Friends

A few days ago, our friends from overseas came back to Ipoh again after a round of visiting friends and relatives in other states and neighbouring countries. Once again, there was another round of reunion dinner and gathering of both new and old friends. Most are old friends and one or two new friends were introduced to us through our friends from oversea.

Again, our friend who is a good cook was in charge of the menu and the cooking. The rest of us were to gather at the chosen venue (house of another friend) and we all sat down to enjoy a very yummy, delicious home cooked dinner. Many thanks to our cook who cooked all the dishes!
Poached or steamed chicken (referred to as bearded chicken or woo soh kai in Cantonese)

Special ginger paste and bird's eye chilies with soy sauce as dipping sauces for the chicken.

Very appetizing assam fish curry with ladies finger, tomatoes, brinjal, etc.

Mixed veggie - Chinese cabbage, carrot, Enokitake mushroom (golden needle mushroom) & glass noodle, etc.

Steamed white silky smooth tofu with sauce & spring onion.

Healthy red rice and white rice, according to our preference.

2 bottles of red wine - generous contribution from the host.
A little red wine is good for health.

Later in the evening, more friends came to join in for a drink and we also had chilled sweet, juicy cut mangoes.

Not everyone likes wine. Some preferred the canned 100 Plus isotonic drink.

Finally, our oversea friends presented the men each with a can of Guinness Draught specially brought back all the way from overseas. The men's positive feedback ... the taste was very soothing. Drinking Guiness has its share of health benefits too!

Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery.
Instead, be filled with the Spirit,
speaking to one another with psalms,
hymns, and songs from the Spirit.
Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,
always giving thanks to God the Father for everything,
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(Ephesians 5:18-20, New International Version-NIV)

Breakfast & Home Cooked Dinner Gathering

Early morning we took our friend's bro.N out for dim sun breakfast at Restoran Hong Kong Dim Sum BFB. Sis.S wanted to sleep late. Initially there were only 3 of us but later joined by 2 more friends.
Driving to the dim sum restaurant.

What to you think of this fencing?
Tasty crispy yam (taro) puffs (woo kok in Cantonese). Today's breakfast I only took photos of a few items, the rest I totally forgot! Too busy enjoying the fellowship!

Minced pork with prawn dumplings dipped in ginger strips with black vinegar.

My favourite - deep fried century egg rolls. Lol! that's all the photos for the dim sum breakfast. I remembered we ordered BBQ pork pau, and etc. but no photos to show.

After breakfast we packed some dim sum for sis.S and sent bro.N home because he and his sister has some matters to look into. The rest of us went our separate ways to do our own thing. Some were already preparing the food for the night's dinner gathering. Nothing grand, just a small gathering with some home cooked food.

Yummy food all cooked by a very charming sister - thanking her for all the hard work in preparing and cooking these for us. From the left to right - deep fried "lam yee" chicken, fried vermicelli and some stuffed "liew".

Home cooked braised chicken feet, also by the sweet, lovely sister.

I didn't contribute any home cooked food, but hubby bought home made popular Jelapang stuffed tofu, soaked in hot soup. All 20 pieces finished! My friends were planning to go for another round of tofu and rojak in Jelapang the next day!

Cut watermelon with skin as dessert.

A little red wine, beer and plain water to go with the food. A night of coming together to enjoy each other's company, filled with jokes, laughter and fun. I was not in the picture because I was the photographer. How to feel old when in the company of such jovial friends!
Linking to Good Fences.

Oh, praise the Lord! for He has listened to my pleadings!
He is my strength, my shield from every danger.
I trusted in Him, and He helped me.
Joy rises in my heart until I burst out in songs of praise to Him.
The Lord protects His people and gives victory to His anointed king.
