Glutinous Rice Dumplings, Sichuan Salted Veggie Soup & Sauteed Chinese Kai Lan

We started out on our morning walk about 6:30am and we are grateful for the street lights that lighted up our streets.

Every time we passed a street light, we get to see our shadows.
These people were preparing to set up their stalls for the morning market - 6:50am.
~~~~~
Breakfast at home.
Hubby bought 4 glutinous rice dumplings from the Friday evening market (pasar malam). 2 were given to our neighbour and I re-steamed the remaining 2 for our breakfast.
When I opened the wrappings, one was with dark sauce and one was white (without the dark sauce). Both taste good to us.
Our breakfast with hot milo for hubby and Nescafe for me.
~~~~~
Simple home cooked dinner without steamed rice.
I boiled soup with Sichuan salted vegetable, pork rib, carrot and tomatoes. I boiled a big pot and shared the soup with our friend and neighbour. Both our friend and neighbour are working and they do not cook.
Chinese kai lan sauteed with ginger slices and minced pork and before I off the fire, I added in some Chinese cooking wine.
The weather was hot. We were feeling really hungry, so we didn't want any rice.

Dear friends, never avenge yourselves.

Leave that to God, for he has said that he will replay those who deserve it.

Don't take the law into your own hands.

Instead, feed your enemy if he is hungry.

If he is thirsty give him something to drink and

you will be "heaping coals of fire on his head."

In other words, he will feel ashamed of himself for what he has done to you.

Don't let evil get the upper hand, but conquer evil by doing good.

Steamed Taro And Pork Belly For Dinner

Lately, I have been trying to spend some time clearing weeds from my garden. Due to plentiful rainfall, the weeds seem to be doing better and growing faster than the edibles in my garden.

I found this lone mushroom in my garden. It is very unusual.
Instead of an umbrella shape top curving downwards, it curved upwards.
~~~~~
This was 4 days before MCO 2.0.
Hubby asked, "What are you cooking for dinner?" Actually, I was in lazy mode but I didn't feel like eating takeaway food. A short while later, I remembered we had some ready cooked food in the freezer.
I steamed the tub of ready cooked taro with pork belly. It was a very flavourful dish.
To heat up the fish paste and minced pork patties, I lightly fried them in a non-stick pan.
This was our dinner for 2 people.
The above photo was taken at a Flea Market in the year 2019.
There were pewter wares, smoking pipes, keris, coconut scraper, irons and etc.
~~~~~
The following shadow photos were taken during one of our morning walks.
We passed by a few street lamps and they cast nice shadows.
We have been passing by this way and I think this is the first time I thought taking snapshots of our shadows.
We cast long but blur shadows.
I managed to get a clear snapshot of our shadows.

O God, have pity, for I am trusting you!
I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until this storm is past.

Stewed Duck + Lotus Root For Lunch And Dinner

Woke up early because our son was going back to the city early. He came back to Ipoh with his friends who were visiting and enjoying Ipoh food for the long weekend. They decided to start early to avoid being caught in the traffic jam. The drive was smooth without much traffic and  they reached their destination at about 7:30 am.
Its nice walking in the early hours of the morning when the air is cool and fresh.
This time I managed to snap our shadows cast by the street lights behind us.
Just as we were finishing our walk, I received a voice message informing us that there was curry noodle waiting for us at our regular coffee shop.
Our friend bought breakfast for herself and she bought our share too.
I took snapshots of these pretty pink flowers by the roadside on our walk home after breakfast.
According to Google Lens, these are identified as Allamanda blanchetii.
These birds were too fast for me. This is the best I can get. No time to zoom.
~~~~~
Home cooked lunch.
In my fridge, I had duck and lotus root. I decided to cook stewed duck with lotus root. I cooked enough for lunch and dinner.
For lunch, 1 cooked noodle. We had stewed duck+lotus root with noodle.
Simple lunch for 2 people.
~~~~~
Dinner
I steamed Basmathi rice and re-heated the stewed duck.
Stewed Duck + Lotus Root.
Raw vegetables + sambal dried prawns.
Green okra freshly harvested from my garden, Japanese cucumber given by a friend and yellow capsicum from the supermarket. I kept the leftover in the fridge and next day, ate them as snack.
Simple dinner for hubby and I.

Your laws are wonderful. No wonder I obey them!
The teaching of your word gives light,
so even the simple can understand.
