Simple Valentine Dinner At Something Special Cafe, Ipoh New Town

February 14th, 2014 was a Saturday and we didn't know that it was Valentin's Day. It was like any other normal Saturday to us. I only knew about it very much later in the night when I logged into Facebook and saw all the Valentine's greetings.

Anyway, that evening we were getting ready to attend the evening Church Service. Since my hubby has not been to Something Special Cafe, I suggested that we have our dinner there before going to Church. It was a surprised blessing to find an empty parking space in front of the cafe, a space just behind the one that I parked previously when I was there with my friends.

It was about 7 pm when we stepped into the cafe. There were 2 empty tables, one right at the front just after the glass door and one right at the back near the kitchen door. We took the one in front. Very promptly, the waitress came to take our orders. We looked through the menu and finally, we decided on our orders. Earlier, I thought I wanted to try the Chicken Chop set but after glancing through the menu, I changed my mind to order something else. What a fickle minded person I am!

Tonight, we both opted for noodle set dinner. The waitress claimed the noodle is their signature Homemade Oatmeal Noodle.
Hubby's dinner set - a bowl of Ginger Herbal Soup Noodle with chicken, wood fungus and wine, etc. An apple pie and a glass of cold blended sweet potato drink made up the set. I took a sip of the ginger soup and I like the taste because there was the taste of generous amount of wine in it and it was very flavourful. This set cost MYR 7.50 (approx. 2.06 USD).
My dinner set - Special Curry Noodle with an apple pie and a glass of cold blended sweet potato drink. The special curry noodle's ingredients - a few pieces of deep fried chicken meat, long beans, egg plant, tofu puff (tofu pok), etc. I have no complain about the curry, noodle or the veggie in the curry but I do not like the chicken because it was the deep fried chicken. I would prefer to eat the deep fried chicken separately, but not soaked in the curry soup. This set costs MYR 7.00 (approx. 1.92 USD).
My hubby took a bite and pushed the apple pie to me. Anything that is sourish, he will reject. He he he...I willingly consumed it in addition to my own share. I like this simple apple pie because of its slight sourish taste. Dinner for 2 person MYR 14.50 (approx. 3.98 USD).

Okay, I reminded myself that for the next visit, I must order the Chicken Chop because I was not feeling satisfied with the Special Curry Noodle. Hopefully, next time I won't change my mind at the last minute.

When I planned this, did I do it lightly?
Or do I make my plans in a worldly manner so that in the
same breath I say, "Yes, yes" and "No, no"?

  7. Hi Nancy,

We didn't have any lavish Valentine's day celebration too... Just the three of us loving each each other :p

Nice that your hubby and you are having a nice dinner on that day and get an extra pie from your husband... I wonder if he didn't want the pie or he just want you to have something extra :p
