After our early morning walk, our friend directed us to a nearby coffee shop or kopitiam. He had tried the food here and he recommended this place to us. The coffee shop is Uncle Chow Kopitiam, It is a corner shop and it is within walking distance from our apartment.
It was a Saturday morning at about 8.30 am and besides us, another table was occupied by customers. I guess most holiday makers will sleep in and not wake up so early like us senior folks. We were handed the menu and the lady boss recommended their "Today's special".

I ordered this curry noodle to share with my hubby.
The curry noodle was accompanied by the curry paste and half a calamansi lime to squeeze over the curry noodle.
My friends ordered this prawn noodles, altogether 3 bowls.
Another friend ordered this fried flat rice noodle - char koay teow, served on banana leaf.
We also ordered some Nyonya kuih to try. Glutinous rice with coconut and coconut jam.
A radish and yam kuih served with chili sauce.
And we also ordered this sweet coconut milk dessert called "Bubur cha cha". Ingredients consist of sweet potato, yam, sago, etc.

A mini cacti garden in front of the kopitiam.
After breakfast, it was time to return to the apartment to pack up our belongings.
Found this pretty hibiscus flower at the apartment's car park.

DeleteCertainly a very nice and relaxing holiday you had Nancy:) I think the senior citizens are very wise to get up early while on holiday in order to make the most of the adventure! You only get this wisdom and privilege as you grow older:)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Annie. It is so true, we have the same mind. Lol!
Delete...I'd like to try the rice with coconut and coconut jam.
ReplyDeleteGood choice, they are both sweet desserts.
DeleteEvery single dish looks very good. And I love the splendid shot of the huge hibiscus with the sun behind it. It is really lit up!

DeleteHow do you even choose between so many tasty dishes!
ReplyDeleteGreat views from your apartment!
Thank you, Christine. We have to restrain ourselves from ordering too much. Lol!
DeleteI am always intrigued by your great food photos. As a Texan, your food looks so exotic! Tonight we are going to a different kind of restaurant to celebrate Ruth Ann's birthday. Step son Dean chose it because of the different kind of food. Wish I could remember the name but I am hoping I can order something that looks like a dish you would choose!
ReplyDeleteI imagine that shop smelled delicious and what an extra treat to have such pretty little gardens to look at!!
Thank you, Linda. I hope you enjoyed the birthday dinner. I hope to get to taste something from Texas one day. Have a beautiful day!
