Steamed Chicken & Steamed Home Grown Eggplant (Brinjals)

It rained yesterday evening and we were able to sleep without switching on the air-con in our room. Today is another hot day at 33 deg C.
The morning started with this lovely sunrise at 7:25 am at the park.
Harvest from my garden - red and green okras (lady fingers).
Just nice for that evening's dinner.
Steamed home grown eggplant (brinjals) and okras (lady fingers).
Served with garlic oil and oyster sauce.
Steamed 2 chicken legs with ginger strips, red dates, goji berries, salt & Chinese cooking wine. The above dishes were served with steamed basmati rice for dinner.

The following items from the Straits Chinese Community (Baba & Nyonya) were found at the National Museum, Kuala Lumpur.

Ceramics - beautiful and multicoloured.

Blouse, sarung, and shoes - embroidered with beautiful and multicoloured designs.

A devout life does bring wealth,
but it's the rich simplicity of being yourself before God.
Since we entered the world penniless and will leave it penniless,
if we have bread on the table and shoes on our feet, that's enough.

  10. The ceramics are beautiful! And I learned about the Straits, which I had never heard of before. In the deep south here, okra is very popular. Gumbo is made with it. But only the green. I have never seen the red.

    1. Thank you, Sue. This is the huge type. The shorter ones are common, easily found in markets.
