Buy Farm Fresh Top Grade Durians Online

This afternoon, I drove out to buy some grocery and I passed by a roadside stall selling durians. Durian? Did my eyes really see durians? Feeling excited, I quickly look at the side mirror to double check. Yes, they were durians! Yay, durian season is back!

You see, I am a big fan of durians. Usually my husband is the one who buys the durian and I am the one who is good at prying open the thorny husks for us to enjoy the creamy flesh. Whatever we cannot finish, I will pack the durian flesh in plastic container to chill in the fridge. Chilled durians taste like delicious creamy ice creams and we love to eat them as chilled desserts.

During the partial lockdown of the pandemic, durian lovers can purchase durians via online and have them delivered to their doorstep. They get to enjoy the different brands of durians in the comfort and safety of their home. Before the pandemic, many Singaporeans crossed over to Malaysia during the durian seasons to satisfy their durian craving. Fish Noodle And Mint Basmathi Rice With Mutton Kurma

It started raining on Saturday evening and continued the whole night. It was still drizzling when we woke up on Sunday morning (yesterday, 61st day MCO).
 Morning sky at 7:10 am.
By the time I took the above snapshot, the rain had stopped in time for our morning walk.
~~~~~
Breakfast
After our morning walk, hubby went out on his motorbike to buy breakfast.
 He bought 1 pax of fish noodle with Shaoxing wine added.
Big portion, enough for 2 people.
 Hubby's bowl with 4 pieces of fish and 1 fish cake.
 My bowl with 4 pieces of fish and 1 fish cake.
I like to soak the cut chili padi in the hot soup.
~~~~~
Lunch
 We came to know about the above lunch promotion by Martin Food Caterer. A friend wanted 1 pax, so hubby ordered 2 pax. Hubby and I shared 1 pax. Food delivery service is provided but hubby went to collect on his own.
 Lunch set - 1 pax.
 Boneless mutton kurma.
 Red chicken or ayam masak merah.
 Mixed vegetable.
 Mint Basmathi rice or nasi pudina.
Overall, it was a delicious lunch.
There is another promotion this Sunday, 24th May.
Are we ordering this? We have not decided yet.
Sweet mangoes for dessert
 When my friend came to collect her lunch set, she gave us the above cookies (hup toh soh).
 We were blessed with 2 big papayas by our neighbour.
~~~~~
Sweet Porridge
I boiled sweet porridge (tong sui) with barley, gingko nuts and bean curd sheet.
 The bean curd sheets break up into tiny pieces after boiling.
 I like the soft barley and of course, my favourite is the ginkgo nuts.
~~~~~
My neighbour returned home from work and she bought for us salted chickens.
 There were 2 salted chickens inside this paper bag and the chickens were still warm.
~~~~~
Dinner
Since there were salted chickens, I decided not to cook dinner.
I kept 1 salted chicken in the fridge, and we had 1 chicken for dinner.
I didn't cook any rice so we ate the salted chicken with barley and ginkgo sweet porridge.
God's laws are perfect.
They protect us, make us wise, and give us joy and light.
God's laws are pure, eternal, just.
They are more desirable than gold.
They are sweeter than honey dripping from a honeycomb.
For they warn us away from harm
and give success to those who obey them.
Gopeng "Lai Fun" Noodles, Fruits & Fried Rice On A Rainy Day
Yesterday morning (46th day MCO), I woke up to the sound of "pitter-patter" of the drizzling rain. It has been raining from the previous night and the drizzling hasn't stopped. A short while later, the drizzle stopped and I was able to go out to look at the sky.
I was surprised to see this sunrise with some colours at 6:50 am.
The colours disappeared 15 minutes later - 7:05 am.
~~~~~
Hubby went out to buy curry noodles for breakfast but found the shop closed. He went to the nearby shop and bought Gopeng "lai fun" noodles.
He was early and no need to queue.
There was no other customer and hubby took a video while waiting.
Stuffed chili, fish cakes and fish balls in clear soup.
Stuffed tofu, yam bean cake, and stuffed bean curd sheet.
2 bowls of Gopeng "lai fun" noodle with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions in clear soup.
Breakfast for 2 people.
~~~~~
2 days ago, hubby bought half a kg "bak kwa" aka Chinese sweet meat jerky.
We finished the "bak kwa" within 2 days. I decided to make some "bak kwa" because it is cheaper. We drove out to the shops to buy minced pork and fruits.
I bought pineapples and Jack fruits (nangka). Nangka sold at RM 3.00 per packet. There are six in each pack, comes to 50 cents per piece. The lady boss told me that the freshly packed nangka is sweet and crunchy.
I bought 1 pineapple which is still green and unripe at RM 3.40. I also bought 2 pieces of ready cut pineapple which I intended to use for cooking assam laksa.
We had papaya for lunch.
It was pouring cats and dogs at about 5:15 pm.
Windy and heavy rain without lightning or thunder.
My garden was flooded.
~~~~~
Yesterday's dinner was special because I didn't do the cooking.
I quietly video taped this from behind.
 Probably because it was raining and hubby was hungry, he decided to fry rice with the cooked rice kept in the fridge. His mood only comes once in many, many moons. I was happy to let him take over the kitchen.
Hubby's signature simple fried rice with dried prawns, eggs, shallots and garlic.
Plain steamed cauliflower and carrot without any seasoning.
Bird's eye chilies in soy sauce.
Early dinner for 2 people at 5:30 pm.
Followed by dessert - Jack fruit (nangka) at 6:00 pm.
True to the lady boss' words, the nangka was sweet and crunchy. There is another packet for today's dessert.

A true friend is always loyal,
and a brother is born to help in time of need.

Salted Chicken For Dinner

I woke up late yesterday morning, 32nd day MCO because I slept later the previous night. After watering the plants in my garden I came in to prepare breakfast.
 Noodle with seafood curry from the previous day.
 Breakfast for 2 people.
I went out to buy fruits: mango, pears and banana.
I also takeaway fried rice from our regular stall.
 We shared the fried rice since the portion was rice.
We finished off the last portion of the seafood curry.
 Later in the afternoon, hubby went out to buy salted chicken.
 During MCO, they are selling frozen salted chicken.
~~~~~
Dinner
 I cooked a big plate of cabbage and carrot.
 I thawed and steamed the frozen salted chicken.
Our dinner for two (without rice).
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves
and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just
and will forgive us our sins and
purify us from all unrighteousness.
Mangosteen Fruits Is In Season.
Durian is my favourite seasonal fruit. And after durian, mangosteen will be next in line. Mangosteen is another seasonal fruit. Durian and mangosteen go hand in hand. Durian is considered a "heaty" fruit, while mangosteen is suppose to "cool" down the body heat. So after eating durians, it is recommended to eat some mangosteens.
This year, there is an abundance of durians and mangosteens. I bought a few rounds of mangosteen and each round of about 3 kilos or more.
As you can see, the skin is thick and takes up most of the weight. For the sake of photographs, I used a knife to cut the skin.
Otherwise, I will just use both palms to press open the mangosteen, as you can see those uneven broken skin on the right side (above picture).
The flesh is white and juicy. It is sweet with a slight sourish taste.
The number of fruit segments are revealed at the bottom of the fruit. The above picture shows 5 segments, and there are really 5 segments of white flesh inside.
The smaller segments will have little tiny soft seeds but the bigger ones will have bigger seeds which can be spit out.
