Dinner At Restoran Yan Ming, Taman Pertama, Ipoh.

The cook in the house was feeling very lazy so there was no home cooked dinner for this particular evening. On our way out for dinner, we drove to a friend's house to pass over an item to him. Since we were there, we chat awhile at the gate until we noticed dark clouds in the sky.
We hurriedly took leave and drove to the restaurant for our dinner.
Here is an old photo of Restoran Yan Ming,
50, Lorong Taman Sepuluh, Taman Pertama, Ipoh.
This photo was taken during the Chinese New Year celebration.
For just the 2 of us, we ordered the following dishes.
Steamed Tilapia with Assam Curry sauce. This dish goes well with white rice on a cool evening.
Kangkong or water spinach stir fried with spicy prawn paste or sambal belacan. Another dish which is great with white rice.
Fortunately, the rain only started when we were half way through our dinner. The heavy rain was accompanied with very strong wind. We, together with the other customers have to wait out the heavy rain at the restaurant. We waited till the rain came to a slight drizzle before we got into our car. The night was nice and cool after the heavy downpour.

I took this photo when we stopped at the traffic light. It so happened our car stopped in front of this plant nursery and it was on my side.
I managed to capture this side view of the plant nursery while hubby took the turning into the side lane. A view that included the wall painting and fencing with creeper growing on it.
A dragon fly on a lemon leaf. The garden fence is between my neighbour's and our side garden.

Purple Hearts Growing In My Garden

I was with a friend in Batu Gajah and we went to visit another friend at her house. This friend has many different types of plants growing in her garden. We got attracted by a purple plant and the owner blessed us with some stem cuttings to take home.
The name of this plant is Purple Hearts or Purple Queen.
It is commonly grown for its deep purple leaves.
Her plant was placed in a shady place and as you can see from the first photo, there is some slight green onn the purple leaves.
I planted the cuttings in a hanging pot with good drainage soil. It can tolerate drought.
My plant is exposed to the morning sun and the leaves have grown deeper in colour. The leaves are thick and can grow to about 6 inches long.
For best colour, the plant needs partial to full sunlight.
As you can see from the above photo, there are very fine hairs on the leaves. These hair may cause slight irritation to sensitive skin.
My purple heart plant has started to bloom small pink flowers at its tips.
A closer look on the pink flower with 3 petals.
The pink flower is very attractive against the deep purple leaves.
The whole plant is purple. Cutting off the long stems increases more growth. The cut off stems will propagate easily.

God means what he says. What he says goes.
His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon's scalpel,
cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense,
laying us open to listen and obey.
Nothing and no one is impervious to God's Word.
We can't get away from it - no matter what.

Lobak & Satay For Lunch And Home Cooked Dinner.

It was peak lunch hours and finding a parking place in Ipoh old town at this time is almost impossible.  We drove 3 rounds before we could get a parking place and we walked to the shop where hubby needed to pick up something. After that, we walked to a coffee shop at Jalan Bandar Timah. Hubby likes to eat the Lobak at Kafe Zun Seng Fatt (next to Restoran Thean Chun), Ipoh. This lobak and chicken rice stall was formerly operating in Restoran Thean Chun before it shifted to its current place.
What's For Lunch
A plate of Lobak - meat rolls, prawn fritters and fish cake.
Lobak with chili sauce for dipping.
We also ordered some chicken satay from next door shop. Spicy peanut sauce for dipping.
Sweet dessert - Water chestnuts with egg white.
Looks like someone made a straight horizontal cut on the side of this limestone hill.

Our Home Cooked Dinner
Free range chicken (half) cooked with sliced and blended ginger, home grown spring onions and bird's eye chilis. I added some black soy sauce and oyster sauce.
Home grown spiky bitter gourds - deep fried Indian style. Before deep frying, I tossed the bitter gourd slices with curry powder, salt and rice flour to coat them evenly.
Homegrown okra or ladies fingers - blanched.
We had steamed rice with the above dishes.
A sunset shot at about 7.05 pm.
