Lunch Gathering At Cheong Loi & Fences in Ipoh.

It all started out with "Good morning" wishes to one another through our mobile phone. Then out of the blue someone suggested meeting for lunch in Ipoh old town. By then it was almost 11.30 am. It so happened that on the day, some cannot make it but most of us were available.

It was then confirmed that we meet at the chosen venue in old town by a certain time. This eatery will be crowded with office workers and regular customers during the lunch break. For those of us who are no longer working, we are requested to go earlier to order the food and get a big table enough for all. Within a short while, those who are still working will join us there.
This was our lunch venue for that day. It is referred to as Cheong Loi.
The name of the eatery written in Chinese on the signboard.
 Cheong Loi Rice Shop.
To reach the rice shop, we have to drive through this narrow lane. It is behind the MBI Pasar Jalan Patrick which is near to the Chinese school SJK(C) Ipoh. Jalan Patrick is the former road name, it has now been renamed to Jalan Bijeh Timah.
I was told that this eatery has been in business since a long, long time. This was my first visit here. Thanks to my friends for introducing me to this hidden place. It was located right at the end of the narrow lane.
As my friend placed the food order, my camera got busy.
We started with a bowl of soup - Old cucumber boiled with pork meat.
It is good to drink soup especially during the hot season.
Stir fried lala with preserved black beans, etc.
Braised Pork trotter in black soy sauce.
Steamed fresh water fish. I can't remember what fish.
Stir fried kangkong (water convolvulus) with garlic.
It was a nice lunch meeting up with ex-colleagues.

Today its Good Fences day so I am sharing some fences here.
This is a church fence.
 Outside a hospital.
Just next to a traffic light.
I pass by here quite often.
One day I happened to pass by here, stop my car to snap this photo.
I like this pretty "Steps" fencing.

Linking to Good Fences.

For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain
of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God.
But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating
for doing wrong and endure it?
But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it,
this is commendable before God.
To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you,
leaving you an example, that you should follow in his STEPS.
(1 Peter 2:19-21, NIV)

  2. I think I've said before Nancy but I like the way people can just sit outside on the sidewalk & eat. The steamed fish looks especially nice. What is Lala? Is that another name for Mussels or is it a different type of shellfish as I'm unfamiliar with the name.

  13. Amazing Nancy. The dinners around your part of the world may seem to natural for you but unusual for me. I bet the food that I eat every day would be unusual for you especially the Italian food that I eat. Oh well, that's why it's so wonderful to try.

Have a great day my friend. See ya.
