Growing Yellow Hibiscus In My Garden.

One fine day, my sister-in-law asked me through Whatsapp whether I am interested to grow a hibiscus plant. She told me that the flower is very pretty and her friend is willing to propagate a plant for me. And on her next trip to Ipoh, she brought back a tiny plant of about 4 inches tall in a small container.
I re-potted the plant into a bigger pot and it started to grow. This hibiscus has round leaves.
When the plant grew to about 1 foot tall, it started to bloom.
This is the yellow flower of my new hibiscus plant.
The flower is bright, striking yellow with a red center and a shorter style.
These photo was taken in the early morning.
Flower from the same hibiscus plant. This was taken under the midday sun.
After feeding it with fertilizer, it has grown more healthy with glossy leaves.
Hibiscus flower before it was fully opened.
Something strange happened to this flower. It didn't open up like the others. It remained like this until it wilted and dropped to the ground. This is a very interesting hibiscus plant. Thank you to my sister-in-law and her friend for this hibiscus plant.

But the spiritual man has insight into everything,
and that bothers and baffles the man of the world,
who can't understand him at all. How could he?
For certainly he has never been one to know the Lord's thoughts,
or to discuss them with him, or to move the hands of God by prayer.
But, strange as it seems, we Christians actually do have within us
a portion of the very thoughts and mind of Christ.
(1 Corinthians 2:15-16, The Living Bible-TLB)

  1. At my kids' school, they have yellow hibiscus as well as white, pink and red. I love looking at the hibiscuses.

I remember we had hibiscus plants in my old house during my childhood.

    1. Those days, I remember there were only the common red bunga raya plants planted as hedges around our school. Hibiscus flowers are very attractive in their various colours.

  6. Nancy, what a pretty yellow hibiscus! I have one but different from yours. It is doing very poorly. Perhaps it needs to be re-potted and need fertilizer.

    1. Thank you, dear. Yes, I will have to look out for the mealy bugs. My previous hibiscus plant was attacked by these bugs and it is now slowly recovering. Have a fantastic day!
