Bak Kut Teh At Restoran Wan Chai Dim Sum & Bak Kut Teh, Canning Garden.

Last Wednesday, hubby called me to inform that he was near Canning Garden, Ipoh and if I wanted pork rib herbal tea (bak kut teh) for lunch, then he will be waiting for me at the restaurant. It took me about 20 minutes to drive from my house to the restaurant. We have been to this restaurant for a dim sum breakfast end of last month and if you are interested, you can click here to read. We have not tried the bak kut teh and this was our first time.
We ordered a clay pot of bak kut teh for 2 people.
Hubby chose to add in the button mushrooms.
MYR 24 (approx. 5.74 USD).
We didn't ordered any drinks, we drank the herbal soup. The taste of the soup was not strong compared to those we have tasted elsewhere but we were glad that we were not very thirsty after drinking the soup. Probably they added less monosodium glutamate (msg, food enhancer) in the soup.
We also ordered a plate of blanched lettuce with garlic oil & soya sauce.
MYR 7 (approx. 1.68 USD)
2 small portion of white rice MYR 1.6 (approx. 0.38 USD)
Total cost of lunch MYR 32.60 (approx. 7.80 USD).

  3. That would be how I ordered my bkt. With blanched lettuces. I also not too keen on strong herbal soup. I prefer milder taste.

    1. This is Chinese herbal soup. Nothing strong about the taste or smell, both are quite mild and taste good.

  8. Maybe they didn't put any msg inside the bkt soup because the herbs used to boil bkt soup would have made the soup very flavourful already.

    1. I think they add less msg. Msg makes me very thirsty!

    2. Were you still a little thirsty? If you are not thirsty at all after eating this, maybe they did not put any msg in the soup. Totally none.

  11. I love the blue building with the yellow fence in front. SO pretty! It does not look like stainless steel. The yellow looks like painted wood.

    1. Thank you, Ginny. The blue building is a kid's school and the stainless steel fence is the one above the blue building. The yellow ones are the concrete pillars. Have a beautiful day!

    1. So sorry about your unpleasant experience there. We were there end of last year and it was very disappointing too. That was the last time for us.
