From The Garden To The Dining Table: Dinner For 2.

The fig plants that were propagated by air layering are now growing well and are bearing fruits. Every morning when I water the plants, I will check on the fig fruits. One morning, I noticed one fruit that looked like its time to harvest. There were some white spots on the skin and probably attacked by some kind of pests.
Can you see the white spots on the fig?
When I cut the fig into half, the inside looked good.
It would have been sweeter if I had waited for 2 to 3 more days.

Dinner Day #1
I had a packet of stinky beans in my fridge.
I opened up the beans to check for worms. Then I washed and soaked the beans in water and place them in the fridge until it was time to cook them.
I still had 1 white brinjal and 3 white bitter melons from the previous day's harvest.
I will be using all the above for cooking a single dish. I planned to keep half of the dish for the next day's dinner.
Sambal stinky beans - Stinky beans, minced pork, white bitter gourds, white brinjals cooked with spicy prawn paste. This plate was for 1st evening's dinner.
Besides the stinky beans dish, I boiled corn soup with pork ribs, red dates, and wolf berries. Love the natural sweetness of this soup. Great for hot days.

Dinner Day #2
I went outside to check on the papaya tree. Saw one green papaya with a tinge of yellow on the skin. I plucked it and use it to boil soup. Since the weather is hot plus the bad haze, it will be good to drink plenty of soup.
The 2nd half portion of the previous day's stinky beans dish.
Soup of the day - papaya, carrot, dried cuttlefish, red dates, wolf berries and pork ribs. It was very delicious and love the natural sweetness of the soup.
Just these 2 dishes for our dinner.
I steamed just enough rice for 2 people. It is very tempting to eat more rice especially when we have the appetizing spicy stinky beans dish.

Happy is the man who doesn't give in and do wrong when he is tempted,
for afterwards he will get as his reward the crown of life
that God has promised those who love him.

  12. You certainly make it all look very attractive. We too only serve enough rice for two so that we don’t overdo it. It we take more rice we take more of everything else!

  16. So nice to have all those edibles that you planted yourself.

Is it possible to ripen the fig after harvesting? Using the usual 'trick' of wrapping it in newspaper.
