Spending A Weekend With Friends In Ipoh.

Our weekend with friends started on one Saturday morning with a breakfast. I didn't take pictures of what we ate because they were nothing new. After breakfast, we went to a store to check out the prices of some items that our friends were interested in.

It was a hot day, and we stopped by a village house cum stall in Gunung Rapat to enjoy some coconut water. I was surprised that they chilled the whole coconuts in the refrigerator. If you want chilled coconut, they will take out the chilled coconut and cut a hole like the one below for you to drink and also to enjoy the coconut flesh.
The best is if you get a young coconut with soft translucent flesh. You use the spoon to scoop up the soft flesh from inside the coconut.
Besides selling coconut water, they also sell bananas, and other fruits.
They recycle plastic chairs to use as stands and use coconuts as planters to grow Japanese roses.
While driving home, we came across these cyclists on their tricycle.
Must be some kind of event going on. They look like rented tricycles.
The back of the tricycles act as advertisement board.
These guys were wearing similar T-shirts.
A double story house with nice fence.
We joined up with our friends again for dinner. Took them to Pusat Makanan MX II at Jalan Dato Tahwil Azar, Taman Jubilee, Ipoh.
We ordered 5 fish balls (saito fish balls) with some garlic oil on them.
A bowl of wat tan hor or flat rice noodles in thick gravy.
Stir fried bee hoon or rice vermicelli with meat, prawns and veggie.
That was our simple dinner for 4 people.
Next morning, we woke up early. Had breakfast with our friends, and later sent our friends to the airport and the bus station. After that we went straight to church for our Sunday worship celebration.
In church, I thought I saw a pair of eyes looking at me.

He knows about everyone, everywhere.

Everything about us is bare and wide open

to the all-seeing eyes of our living God;

nothing can be hidden from him to whom

we must explain all that we have done.

(Hebrews 4:13, The Living Bible-TLB)

  9. I have never had coconut water straight from the coconut. I drink a lot of it because it is an excellent way to rehydrate after working or exercising outside. It has a lot of the minerals you need and is very low calorie. Used to be I couldn't stand the taste and got the flavored variety but now I kind of like it and I try and keep some on hand all the time.
Great food, and interesting pics and a wonderful scripture. You wrote the perfect blog post!
    Have a great weekend.

    1. We love the fresh water from the coconut without any sugar added to it. It also helps keep the body heat down especially in hot weather.

  12. I wish I could try the fried vermicelli & meat, and the rice noodles in gravy, they look SO good! The men in tricycles is such an unusual photo! Your bible verse is just perfect for your watcher in church!! We have a saying here that a person must have eyes in the back of his head, but he actually does!

  19. Oh that is so neat to have the water straight from the coconut, I have never had that, so special that they cool them down so the water is cool on a hot day. That is great they recycle the shells to put plants into. That is funny about the guy wearing his glasses like that.
