Simple Take Away Dinner & Pink Sunset

There was a slight drizzle when we woke up yesterday morning so have to forgo our morning walk. After breakfast, the drizzle stopped and I went out to sweep the driveway.
White rain lilies blooming in front of my house.
These rain lilies usually appear during rainy seasons.
I was feeling some dryness in my throat and these chilled home made black herbal jelly or gui ling gao is good for soothing dry throat.

Take away dinner
Yesterday evening, I was feeling lazy and not in the mood to cook. Hubby went out with the stainless steel tiffin carriers or food containers and came back with the following dishes.
Stewed pork ribs with taro or yam in red fermented bean curd or nam yue.
Sweet sour Chinese mustard.
Fried fish.
The above 3 dishes including white rice for 2 persons cost RM16.50
After dinner, I went out to the front of my house and saw this hibiscus. Every day there are new hibiscus blooms but the flowers only last for a day. Took this snapshot in the evening light.
Pink sunset at 7:40 pm.
Hopefully, tomorrow we will have clear sky so that we can go for our morning walk.

Don't brag about your plans for tomorrow -
wait and see what happens.

  4. Home made gui ling gao must be so yummy. How much powder did you use to make so many containers of gui ling gao?

    1. I use 50 gm of powder mixed with 200 ml water. Boil 1.25 litre water to dissolve 200 gm cane sugar. Stir in the powder + water mixture into the cane sugar water over low heat, stirring all the time till slightly thickened, then off the fire. Sieve the mixture into containers.

    1. We bought our dinner from Restoran WK Claypot House, 101 Lengkok Rishah 3, Taman Silibin Ria, Ipoh, outskirt of Ipoh. Phone: 012-510 8632. I like their chicken claypot rice and red sugarcane drink.

  6. So sad the hibiscus blooms only for one day. Did you pick up the fallen hibiscus flowers to press them into dry flowers?

    1. Its okay because there are flowers everyday. The dried flowers contributed to the compost.

  7. The pork ribs look so good. I really want some but cannot have any pork until this darned gall bladder of mine is gone. The op is on priority, but who knows when that will be with this pandemic still going on.
    The hibiscus is beautiful.
