Curry Ribs Wonton Noodle & Home Made Salted Mustard Green

This was Wednesday, 2 days before Lunar New Year. After morning walk, we stopped at one of our regular coffee shop for breakfast.

We ordered and shared a plate of wonton noodle with curry pork rib and minced pork dumplings (wonton). Then hubby bought a Chinese cruller or youtiao to eat with his coffee.
Papaya for pre-lunch.
My lunch: Took out 1 curry puff, warm up in the oven.
Lots of filling: a quarter hard boiled egg, chicken, and potato.
Hubby's lunch: Mamak rojak (pasembor) and iced unsweetened black coffee.

Home cooked dinner.
There was a tub of home made pickled (salted) mustard green (hum choy) in my fridge. I almost forgot about it. I took half to cook with minced pork, tomatoes and chilies.
Fried 2 slices of grouper fish.
We had plain rice porridge with the fried fish and salted mustard green savoury dish. It was a very appetizing dinner. I kept half the salted mustard green in the fridge for the next day's dinner.

Salt is good for seasoning.
But if it loses its flavor, how do you make it salty again?
You must have the qualities of salt among yourselves
and live in peace with each other.

  5. Nancy, every time I look into your blog about breakfast I think about dinner. This plate of wonton noodle with curry pork rib and minced pork dumplings (wonton)for breakfast is the first thing about dinner. We in Canada would never think about breakfast. It's amazing that our countries are so different when it comes to eating yet your food is so wonderful & tasty. I would eat it any time.

    1. Ha ha...over here, the first thing in the morning, we will think about what to eat for breakfast. It is the most important meal to start the day and then followed by dinner.

  11. That curry puff looks amazing. I am glad you cut it in half so we could see inside. Your papaya always looks deep orange. Ours looks more yellow.

    1. Thank you, Gigi. We have deep orange and yellow papayas. But we prefer deep orange because they are sweeter compared to the yellow ones.

  12. Everything looks so delishious! Your photos of the diced papaya have had me hankering for one and I looked at the Mexican Papya in the store up in the big city the other day. They were so small and dried out. I know they are in season year round they seem to ship better in the spring and summer. I shall look again next trip!

  17. Amazing food as usual. I love the scripture for today. Best of all is the concept of "pre-lunch" I need to check into that.

  18. All the food looks good as usual especially your grouper fish. The pasembor looks very good too. The curry puff fillings look good too. How much is one curry puff? Here the price ranges from rm2 to rm4.5 for one curry puff.

  24. Nice to be able to buy youtiao to dip into coffee. None of the coffee shops I frequent have youtiao available. So I get them from the market and try to get home before they turn soft.

The hum choy dish reminds me... I haven't had it in a long time.
