Nyonya Curry Noodle, Herbal Duck Noodle & Assam Laksa

On this Sunday, we decided to attend physical church instead of online church. Even though the number of covid cases is still very high, we try to attend physical church once in a while. Most of the Sundays, we attend online church service.

Sunrise at 7:40am.
We were early and we drove out to town for breakfast.
It was a nice sunny Sunday.
Breakfast at Restoran Xin Xiang Er Nong.
My favourite pan mee stall was closed that morning, so I tried this Nyonya curry noodle which is different from the usual curry noodle. The curry broth is more watery and with more turmeric (yellow ginger) but I quite enjoyed the taste of the curry.
Hubby ordered his favourite i.e. herbal duck soup noodle and this time he got the wing part of the duck.
~~~~~
After church, I decided to cook assam laksa with the ready made paste bought from Penang. I have been craving for assam laksa for a long time.
Plus, I checked and the expiry date is quite near. This time I used canned sardine instead of fresh fish because there was none in the fridge..
I cooked enough assam laksa broth just for 4 bowls.
2 bowls for ourselves and 2 bowls for our neighbours.
I used the normal rice vermicelli and canned pineapple.
Cucumber and limes were home grown.
Ta da! Finally get to enjoy a big bowl of delicious assam laksa packed with lots of ingredients.
~~~~~
I didn't cook and hubby wanted fried noodle. Our regular fried noodle stall was closed and we ended up at the hawker centre.
Hubby ordered fried rice vermicelli from a new stall.
I ordered a piece of fried chicken for us to share because I was still full with the assam laksa that we ate for lunch.
One morning on our morning walk, we passed by this moringa tree with birds on its branches. How many birds can you spot?
A pair of birds on the power cable above us.
Not sure what type of bird. Mourning doves???

Admit your faults to one another and pray for each other
so that you may be healed.
The earnest prayer of a righteous man has great power
and wonderful results.

  2. I will eat Penang assam laksa but I am not that crazy about it, never tried cooking. If I cook laksa, I will cook our own Sarawak laksa but I have tried cooking the nyonya curry laksa before as well.

  6. Is there a way that you can eat these noodles not so wet and noodles that are darker. Every time I ask for these noodles they are so wet.

    1. The wet noodles are probably the noodles in soup base. You will have to ask for "dry stir" or "dry version" of the noodles, i.e. if they have the dry version.

    2. Thanks Nancy. I'll try to see if I can get it.

  7. The day seems to be bright and beautiful, and it is good that you were able to go to church safely. The fried vermicelli noodles are my favorite, and mom cooks them when we don't have anything else to eat or she isn't interested in cooking. I hope you have a nice weekend.

  10. I want to eat a bit of both Nyonya Curry Noodle and Herbal Chicken Noodle. Your Assam Laksa has so much ingredients. I am drooling over it. I can only see 4 birds but u guess there must be more. What is the correct answer?

    1. I am interested to try the D'Laksa at Aeon but somehow never get to. Maybe after I have finished the last packet of ready made paste, then will have to look for laksa to enjoy.

  18. OMG! I wanna eat the Nyonya Curry Noodles and Assam Laksa so badly. I am still recuperating and my colons cannot withstand the slightest spiciness yet. So sad.

    1. Better hold on until you are fully recovered from the surgery. Then you can enjoy all you want without having to suffer the painful consequence.
