Dinner At Restoran Makanan Laut Wong Kok, Ipoh

As we started out on our morning walk, I noticed that the sky was clear and the full moon was very bright.

This was at about 6:55am.
Friday is our dine-out day with friends.
One Friday, we went to Restoran Makanan Laut Wong Kok, Ipoh, which we haven't been to for a long time.
We ordered steamed Tilapia with savoury sauce aka as "cheong cheng".
The main ingredients used for the savoury sauce are bean paste (taucu), chopped garlic, shallots, ginger, oyster sauce, soy sauce, and sugar.
Sweet potato leaves sauteed with fermented bean curd (fu yee).
Deep fried soft tofu (sui tofu) and topped with pickled radish, crispy shallots and sauces.
Total cost of dinner for 4 people = RM93.40
(incl. 4 small portion rice and plain water).
Coleus: Yellow and green leaves.

Your throne is founded on two strong pillars - the one is Justice
and the other Righteousness.
Mercy and Truth walk before you as your attendants.
Blessed are those who hear the joyful blast of the trumpet,
for they shall walk in the light of your presence.

  1. RM94 for a fish, veg and tofu is not cheap. Tilapia is cheap here as we get the super fresh farmed ones from the Batang Ai Lakes, alive even sometimes but it is not so popular here. Only around RM15.00 with rice at the Sugar Bun, our Sarawak fast food franchise.

They serve it in assam too - you can ask for the head or the body

    1. Tilapia used to be cheap and we could have it for RM10 per fish but now, no more. The fish is about 1.3 kg.and the fish is RM59. With the price hike, other fishes will be more expensive.

Heritage buildings. love your 3 dishes Dinner At Restoran Makanan Laut Wong Kok, Ipoh, especially the tofu and the sweet potato leaves. Cheong ching fish is too flavourful for me. Very refreshing yellow and green leaves of the coleus plant. Is this coleus plant in your garden?

  12. Thank you Nancy for letting me know places that are 16,081 km away and 33 hours of flight and that I may never get to know since the tourist circuits in Malaysia never reach those places.
