Hubby and I have our own favourites when it comes to eating out for breakfast.
Shredded chicken with flat rice noodle or kai si hor fun is one of hubby's favourite noodles. The seller will add in the chicken liver for hubby and sometimes when he scoops the soup onto the noodle, hubby gets a few pieces of dried scallops too. The seller uses dried scallops as one of the ingredients for boiling the soup. I like this noodle but I do not eat it as often as hubby does.
One of my favourite noodle is curry noodle. There are a few places that serves good curry noodles. I like the soup version while hubby likes the dry version. I will only order the dry version when we eat at Yee Fatt Tea House, Kampar Road, Ipoh which is famous for their Yee Fatt Dry Curry Noodles.
We love local fruits such as the above Jackfruit. Once in a while, we get blessed with Jackfruit from our friend's garden but most of the times, we buy from a roadside stall in our area.
I was blessed with 2 home grown avocado from a friend. I was told to keep the fruits for about a week before consuming them.
About a week later, one of the avocado turned to this colour.
I cut it open and dug out the big seed.
I scooped out the flesh and spread some on a cream cracker.
It was nice with the cracker but I prefer eating it as it is, on its own.
For dinner, I boiled Bak Kut Teh or Meat Bone Herbal Tea.
Ingredients used: 1 big packet of Chinese herbs bought from the Chinese medical shop, 1 pig stomach, pork ribs, Shiitake mushrooms, and tofu puffs bought from Bentong.
We had steamed rice with the bak kut teh and home made pickled ginger and pickled belimbing buluh.
One morning while walking home from our morning walk, I saw something that gave me a scare. When I saw this from afar, it looked like someone was hanging from the branch of this tree. As we got nearer, we saw that it was a shirt used to wrap a Jackfruit. Good thing, I saw this in broad daylight and not when it was dark.
Photos credited to Shirley who shared these 2 photos with me. At first glance I thought it was a feather or a dried flower. I used Google Lens to identify this funny looking insect. The nearest I could find is the Arctornis l-nigrum moth. Please let me know if it is something else.
This one looks really cute. It looks like an old man with yellow face, 2 eyes, long hairy pointed ears and long white beard. I have not come across such funny looking insect before. Through the sharing of photos, we get to see and learn new things.

Oh, you do live in a great place!
ReplyDeleteHere you cannot even get a decent avocado!
LOL, that shirt!!! Is it Halloween already?!
Lol! No Halloween celebration here.
DeleteThank you for showing us the unique insect. I will eat a bit of all your dishes: Shredded Chicken & Curry Noodle, Bak Kut Teh And Fruits for the variety. The avocado is tasty. Have you ever planted an avocado tree?
ReplyDeleteNo, Mun. I don't have space for the big avocado tree.
DeleteI think I can eat the kai si hor fun - looks like white chicken breast meat to me. No, no more bak kut teh... Sobssss!!!!!
ReplyDeleteToo much of bak kut teh is not healthy.
Delete...the Jack fruit looks great, it's something that I've never had.
ReplyDeleteI think you will like it.
DeleteHello, Nancy
ReplyDeleteThe chicken dish looks yummy, I love most fruit and avocados, I never tried Jack Fruit. The moth is interesting looking, great photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, enjoy your weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Thank you, Eileen for hosting. Have a wonderful weekend.
DeleteThe fruit looks good Nancy and that moth was very interesting.
ReplyDeleteCruisin Paul
Thank you, Paul.
DeleteThat white shirt in the tree made me laugh. Hilarious! It does look like somebody hanging from the tree. Have you tried making Guacamole from avocado? It's delicious with chips or crackers.. Recipe is online.
ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't tried making Guacamole from avocado. Maybe, next time I will try.
DeleteDelicious food! I would love to have some jackfruit though.
ReplyDeleteI love it especially when it is sweet.
DeleteNancy, the technique I use to ripen the avocado is to wrap it for a few days, with newspaper
ReplyDeleteThank you, Norma. I am also using the same technique for most of my fruits.
DeleteThat is a crazy looking moth! I would love to taste a home grown avocado. I know it is yummy!
ReplyDeleteYes, home grown avocado tastes good.
DeleteWhat an amazing looking moth!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginny.
DeleteMeat herb tea sound mighty good.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Thank you, Dora. Stay safe and have a good week.
DeleteI do love that moth. Very unusual. Many times I like avocado with freshly ground pepper, but there are times I mash it and mix in diced onions, lime juice, and black pepper, and scoop it up with seeded crackers to eat. Your meals always look interesting enough to try.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Yvonne. Now, I am beginning to like avocado.
DeleteSo nice
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jo-Anne.
DeleteAmo el aguacate, te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteThank you, JP.
Deletei piatti sono squisitissimi! La falena ha un aspetto curioso!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lea.
DeleteI thought avocado would be eaten raw rather than after it had ripened. My uncle's woodhouse in the hills had an avocado tree. The jackfruit looks to be delicious! Amazing insect.
ReplyDeleteI had tasted avocado before it was ripe but I didn't like it. It tastes better when ripened. Thank you, Jeevan.
DeleteHello Nancy :=) The fruit looks interesting, but the moth is rather special. It is a moth I have never seen before, and so unusual. I will try to ID it on line.Your friend took good photos of the moth.
ReplyDeleteAll the best.
Thank you, Breathtaking. All the best to you too.
DeleteThe shirt over the jackfruit does look scary.
