Fried Sardine + Pickled Mustard Green & Korean Luncheon Meat

I have a few home grown tomatoes in the fridge. Since they are home grown, I prefer to eat them raw.

I cut the chilled home grown tomatoes into wedges and drizzled Kewpie roasted sesame dressing on them.
~~~~~
The following were the canned food I used to prepare dinner. They were bought during MCO.
1 small can of fried sardine.
1 small can of pickled mustard green.
I poured the fried sardine into a small bowl. I took out the pickled mustard green and sliced it. I placed the sliced mustard green on top of the fried sardine. Before serving, I steamed it for a few minutes.
There was 1 can of Korean luncheon meat.
Fried sliced luncheon meat.
Steamed home grown long green okras and green brinjals (eggplants), topped with crunchy chili oil and sprinkling of soy sauce.
This was our dinner with plain brown rice porridge.
Now, I am happy to have cleared some of the canned food.
This mural was found on the wall of a nearby Chinese school.
I took this snapshot in March, 2020.
I think this mural has been replaced by another mural.
Linking to Monday Mural.
But you must be careful not to brag about
being put in to replace the branches that were broken off.
Remember that you are important only because
you are now a part of God's tree;
you are just a branch, not a root.
Deep Purple Corn & Century Egg With Pickled Ginger
After locking the gate, I took the following sky shots before we started our morning walk.
Morning sky at 6:55am.
Returning from our morning walk at 7:40am.
Economy spicy fried rice vermicelli (Indian style) from the roadside stall. One with fried egg and the other with fried chicken drumstick. Hubby had milo and I had Bru coffee.
I used to be a Nescafe fan. This is the first time I bought Bru coffee to try. I find it milder and smoother than Nescafe.
Purple Corn
I have tried growing purple corn twice in my garden. If you are interested, you can click here and here to read the posts.
My neighbour bought 4 purple corns for us. I removed the husk and silk, then I washed the corns under running tap water before I steamed them.
After steaming, the water in the metal plate was purple.
There was purple stain on my fingers after holding the steamed corn. No worry, the stain came off easily when washed.
~~~~~
I cooked Mi Sedap instant noodle for lunch.
I served the noodle with some spicy dry shrimp chili.
Side dish: 2 century duck eggs with home made pickled ginger.
I think I am the only one who served century egg with noodle.
~~~~~
Home cooked dinner for 2 people.
ABC soup.
Ingredients used: potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, big onions, smashed ginger (thumb size), crushed white peppercorns and soft bone pork.
Pan fried Grouper fish slice. When it is cooked, I drizzled some soy sauce on it, flipped it over to coat the soy sauce and took it out from the pan.
I tried a new brand luncheon meat that comes in a round tin. I didn't take snapshot of the tin so I can't remember what was the brand. Not so nice, so I won't be buying this brand again i.e. if I can recognise the tin.
Simple yet satisfying and filling dinner for us.
God showed how much he loved us by sending his only Son
into this wicked world to bring to us eternal life through his death.
In this act we see what real love is:
it is not our love for God but his love for us
when he sent his Son to satisfy God's anger against our sins.
Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fun, Braised Yee Mee & Assam Fish Curry
According to the sop, we are allowed to go out for outdoor activities from 7am onwards. We are not complaining but we do miss going out before the sky lights up before the lockdown.
Sunrise at 6:37am
Even though we are up early, we still have to wait and watch the clock. It is better to follow sop to avoid getting a fine.
6:40am
~~~~~
After morning walk, we drove out to a nearby town to buy breakfast.
We bought Hong Kong chee cheong fun which is rice flour batter steamed with bbq pork and prawns and roast pork. The sauce was packed separately.
With the sauce and sambal paste added to the noodle.
Then add the crispy shallot and sesame.
Roast pork - RM10, next to the chee cheong fun stall.

Lunch
There is a new noodle stall in our area.
Hubby went to buy wat tan hor but was not available that day, so he ended up buying braised yee mee .
The extra sambal from breakfast pairs well with the braised yee mee.
Purplish black pear shaped eggplant or brinjal in my garden.
Eggplants are prone to pests especially the mealy bugs that stick to the underside of the leaves. To control them, I trim away the affected leaves.
That evening, I harvested 1 eggplant and 3 long beans to add to the curry dish.
Home cooked assam fish curry with mackerel (ikan kembung), pineapple, eggplant and long beans. The eggplant is nice and fleshy.
I pan fried the remaining luncheon meat with bacon (4 pieces).
Sauteed green vegetable with garlic and salt to taste.
Homely dinner for 2 people.
Found this pretty spider clinging onto a branch outside my house.
Can someone please help to identify this spider?

My ex-colleague and friend shared with me the following photos.
Photo credited to Marie.
A bird nest with 2 eggs in my friend's garden.
Photo credited to Marie.
She doesn't know the name of the bird but she told me that it was a medium sized bird with white head. The snapshots were taken in May. The eggs have been hatched and the little birds have flew away leaving behind an empty nest.

Like a bird that fills her nest with young she has not hatched
and which will soon desert her and fly away,
so is the man who gets his wealth by unjust means.
Sooner or later he will lose his riches and
at the end of his life become a poor old fool.

Sunrise Shots, Noodles For Breakfast & Yam With Dried Shrimp

It is not always we get to see nice display of sunrise and clouds in the sky. In fact, I was more focused on taking sky shots than on my morning walk. I hope you will enjoy the following images and let me know which one is your favourite.

After morning walk, we took the car out to buy take away breakfast from the nearby shop.
We bought some "liew" or "yong tau foo" such as stuffed bean curd sheet with fish paste, fried tofu and stuffed green chili.
The curry oil on the right is great for dipping the "liew".
These are not mass production "liew", they are all made by the boss himself.
Rolled flat rice noodle or chee cheong fun stuffed with yam bean filling. I requested for curry gravy and pickled green chili.
I poured the curry gravy over the flat rice noodle before eating.
Shredded chicken and prawn (kai si hor fun) - hubby's breakfast.
Breakfast for 2 people. Milo for hubby and Bru coffee for me.
~~~~~
Simple home cooked no rice dinner.
This time, I steamed the yam cubes first before cooking them. Steam till they have soften. Then I fried some chopped garlic in a little oil and dried shrimps (presoaked and drained), fry till fragrant. Then I added the steamed yam, add some water and let it cooked over medium fire. Once it reached the preferred softness, add salt to taste.
This time the soften yam retains its shape and looks nicer. I would love to add in some spring onions but I don't have any in the fridge or in the garden. We also had pan fried luncheon meat with bacon (last 4 slices) and some left over sambal anchovies.
Pink rain lilies from my garden.
Pretty flowers but they don't always bloom.
Dear brothers, is your life full of difficulties and temptations?
Then be happy, for when the way is rough,
your patience has a chance to grow.
So let it grow, and don't try to squirm out of your problems.
For when your patience is finally in full bloom,
then you will be ready for anything,
strong in character, full and complete.
