Chee Cheong Fun For Breakfast @ Canning Garden, Ipoh

My hubby is a faithful patron of this Chee Cheong Fun stall in Kedai Makanan Canning Garden, Ipoh. He used to go alone for his Chee Cheong Fun breakfast when I was still working.

I used to like my Chee Cheong Fun with a mixture of curry gravy and mushroom gravy i.e. flooded with gravy and pickled crunchy green chili. Now that I have tasted this particular Chee Cheong Fun, I have learned to enjoy the plainer version, that is, Chee Cheong Fun with onion oil, light soy sauce, fried crispy onion, toasted sesame seeds and pickled crunchy green chili.

Chee Cheong Fun is steamed rice noodle sheets, folded in layers and cut into strips. It is then served with combination of variety of condiments e.g. curry gravy, mushroom & meat gravy, sweet red sauce, diluted prawn paste, chili sauce, crispy onion, onion oil, sesame seeds and of course, pickled crunchy green chili.
A big serving for my hubby. His favourite version is Chee Cheong Fun with onion oil, crispy fried onion, toasted sesame seeds, soy sauce and pickled crunchy green chili.
A small serving for me, with the same condiments as my hubby's. The pickled crunchy green chili will be transferred from my hubby's plate to mine because he doesn't eat them. I must have pickled crunchy green chili especially with my Chee Cheong Fun and Wanton Noodle.
We were told that this uncle's rest days are Mondays and Tuesdays. His regular clients know and are used to his temperamental ways. Sometimes he can be nice and friendly, probably when he is not under pressure or stress.
I have observed that most of the customers here come for the Chee Cheong Fun. Once you have tasted this Chee Cheong Fun, I am sure you will come back again for more of this smooth silky noodle.
The coffee shop is just next to a big field and its a corner shop along Lorong Cecil Rae, Canning Garden.
A simple, yet tasty Chee Cheong Fun breakfast.
Big portion MYR 3.50, small portion MYR 3.00.
Both our breakfast costs less than MYR 10.00

A gentle answer turns away wrath
but a harsh word stirs up anger.

  1. Maybe you can tell me exactly what Chee Chong fun is. I still do not know exactly what the ingredients are. We have nothing like this here.
