Whenever we want to eat Gopeng or Kopisan rice noodles, we have to drive all the way to Gopeng. Now there is no need to do so because Gopeng rice noodle outlets are all over Ipoh town. They have opened outlets in many places.
I remembered that first time I ate this rice noodle, I didn't like it at all because I do not like plain soup noodle. I only like the stuffed goodies (liew). But somehow by now I have acquired a liking for the plain rice noodle, probably because I have married a Gopeng guy. Even my two sons too like this rice noodle and goodies.
Last month our friend YTM and his family drove from Subang Jaya to Ipoh for a one day trip. As usual, he wanted to stop at Kopisan, Gopeng for his favourite rice noodle for breakfast before continuing on to Ipoh. He never fails to eat his favourite rice noodle whenever he is back at his hometown, Kopisan. I was told that Kopisan (coffee hill in Cantonese) is a village formerly known for its coffee cultivation.
This time, for once he is willing to give one of these noodles outlets in Ipoh a try. So instead of stopping at Gopeng for his breakfast, he drove straight to Ipoh. We met up at Restoran GP Kopisan, Off Jalan Tokong, Ipoh for our breakfast. My hubby and I have not been to this place, so it was a first time for us too.
When we reached the place, most of the tables were occupied. We did managed to get a table along the five foot way outside the shop.
These are special fried tofu with no stuffing. Not every time you can get these.
These are the special GP Kopisan rice noodles with crunchy bean sprout, sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds and diced spring onion.
These are spicy sauce to go with the noodles and goodies.
So, after we have eaten our breakfast, we all wanted to hear what our friend YTM had to say about the rice noodle served in Ipoh. Well, he said that the original Kopisan noodle in his hometown is still the best. Could it be due to the familiar surrounding ambience of the Kopisan Village that he is missing?

Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that
through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.
Through Him everyone who believes is justified from everything
you could not be justified from by the law of Moses.
(Acts 13:38-39, New International Version-NIV)
You are most probably right that it is the ambiance that he misses. Are the liew here better than the pasir pinji big tree ones?
ReplyDeleteMun, I would say the Pasir Pinji big tree liew are better than these, but big tree do not have lai fun.
DeleteI have never been to this shop to try out their rice noodle . Is it the same as the one in Greentown near Hor Lok ?
ReplyDeleteThey are both getting their rice noodle and liew from the same source, so should be the same.
