Last Monday, my friend and I were once again on our way to town to run our once a month errands. This time, we went to Poslaju first because I need to send something to Kuala Lumpur and then did some banking, both in Ipoh old town.
Since we were in old town, my friend suggested we had breakfast in Metro Cafe, which we have not been for a long, long time.
Surprisingly, the name Metro Cafe is hung on the side wall inside the shop.
We both ordered wanton noodle with chicken meat.
You can see the thin wanton noodle under the chicken meat and gravy.
One normal portion of wantons (I forgot the number of wantons in the soup). We requested to add a piece of sui kao (big dumpling) together with the wantons.
Pickled green chili in chili sauce to go with the noodles.
Total cost of 2 sets of noodles cost about RM15 (approx. 3.85 USD).
I forgot the exact amount.
This is the stall selling Gopeng Mee.
The noodles still taste good after all these years.
The shop is along Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Ipoh old town.
After our breakfast, we drove to Ipoh new town to run other errands and we passed by this horse on the roadside in old town. We do not know what "The Happy 8" is all about.
Today, I am sharing some kitties images which I have taken during my morning walking exercise.
I do not know whether it is a stray or belongs to someone staying nearby.
Another kitty near the drain.
Kitty thinking, "Should I climb up the tree to escape from her?"
"Or should I go the other way?"
Another kitty on the move.....
Linking to Saturday's Critters.
Once a leper came and knelt in front of him and begged to be healed.
"If you want to, you can make me well again," he pled.
And Jesus, move with pity, touched him and said,
"I want to! Be healed!"
Immediately the leprosy was gone - the man was healed!

DeleteThat first kitty looks like a stray and he's licking his lips after devouring a mouse. Yuck to me but good to him. lol. It also looks like he's got a bit of eye infection. Poor kitty.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if The Happy 8 is a pool hall. I never had wonton noodles.
Have a happy weekend.
Hugs,
JB

DeleteWhat a delight the horse was, a great photo.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mamas. Have a wonderful weekend!
DeleteNice horse. Happy 8 sounds like an eating place or a drinking place. The noodle dishes seem like a very good price. At least to me because it would cost many times that where I live.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joyful. I have yet to find out what is Happy 8. Have a fabulous weekend!
DeleteWonderful horse sculpture and neat shots of the wandering kitties ~

DeleteI love pan fried noodles. Ipoh seems to be quite relaxing to live, compared to Hong Kong or Los Angeles....What is the average market rent there for a 1500 square foot apartment or house?
ReplyDeleteHello OJ, it all depends on the place, whether it is in the city or outskirt. If in Kuala Lumpur, to rent a room about 120 sq ft will cost about MYR 550. I don't know about the whole apartment. In Ipoh you can get a landed house for the rent of about MYR 500 to 600 in a residential area away from town. It is definitely very, very much cheaper than Hong Kong where land is so scarce.
Deletecute kitties. love the painted horse!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Theresa. Have a lovely weekend!
DeleteI would feast on that soup with the wantons and dumpling! The old city is interesting and as always very colorful. The kittens are so cute!!! Love that scripture verse and I believe it!

DeleteThe wantan mee looks special
ReplyDeleteThank you, Thomas. Yes it is special, the noodle is finer and thinner.
DeleteI loves wanton, can eat wanton on it's own without the noodle...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon. I too love to eat wanton & sui kao on its own without the noodles.
DeleteI love sui kao and I can just have one bowl of it as a meal.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Phong Hong. Same for me too!
DeleteTalking about cats, my hubby saved a little kitten yesterday from a busy road!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby saw the kitten ran out to the road and no one stopped to rescue it. Hubby just stopped his car in middle of the road and rushed out to save the kitten and brought it to the mummy cat who immediately carrying her kitten into the house. And I noticed the mummy kitten turned back once looking at hubby, maybe saying "thank you".
Wanton noodle. The old school always tasted the best, right?
Rose, so thankful to your hubby for going to the rescue of the little kitten. No many will take the trouble to stop and rescue. So kind of your hubby. I am sure its the mummy's way of saying "thank you" to your hubby for saving her baby kitty. Oh yes, the old school always tasted the best, you are right!
DeleteThat horse looks nice, cats look ok I am not a cat person
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jo-Anne. Many of my friends do not like cats too!
DeleteI prefer my wanton mee to be traditional with char siew haha.
ReplyDeletePoor kitty, getting stalked!
I will check and see if they have char siew or not. Ha ha poor kitty, trying to escape from this stalker!
